just bought their last album (and my first by them), and to me one of the best melodic symph metal albums i have heard so far, it furfills my absolutt taste for metal, and have all the things I crave for in metal, melody, edge, symphonic structure, melancholy and vocal harmonisatisation

they are from Suomi/Finland, and are awesome

this is the last album (the one I gott)
this album is clearly symphonic progressive metal, with melodic focus also edgy

they are on MMA  but they should fit here as well

Amorphis you say, well well, where have I seen that name before...

They've been rejected and there is no unanimity as to there proggyness so the best we could do is Prog-related.
If you know of any progmetal bands influenced by Amorphis you're welcome.

so you say this is NOT progressive metal, for me they are in every note they play and they are good to not sound like another DT wannaby/soundalike, they are a bit lighter  then Opeth, more progressive then In Flames, and more folksy

this is prog metal to me, much like Threshold is progressive metal and ACT are progressive rock/metal so are Amorphis. melodic, but also growling ,and the synth work and atmospheres are to me progressive indluenced, sounds like Genesis influenced and 80s influenced

I said that not everyone thinks they are prog metal and that they have been rejected because of that.
For me, they are definitely Prog Metal, mainly because of their '95-'00 albums, but certainly not because of Skyforger which is a melodic death album with folk elements, not Prog.

These guys fit into progressive metal for me.  I just started listening to them, and they satisfy my progressive ears.  Metal Music Archives calls them Progressive Metal as well.  I think this should be reexamined as they now have more albums.

^ MMA allows multiple genre tags. Amorphis started as a death metal band so those albums have that tag. Some of their albums are prog-ish.

I get it why they've been rejected before.

No point in resurrecting a dead case and thread.

I cannot recall Amorhpis playing progressive metal, even in their best days of Elegy.

If there are some samples post-2011 that you really think are worth our time please post here, thanks.
