10. Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree
9. Kate Bush 8. Trans-Siberian Orchestra 7. 311 (not exactly prog but they're childhood faves of mine) 6. Frost* 5. Ayreon 4. Rush 3. Neal Morse/Transatlantic/Spock's Beard (Morse Era) 2. Yes 1. Dream Theater This is just a rough, "off-the-top-of-my-head" ranking, the order here is definitely subject to change. Certain bands almost made it, such as The Flower Kings, Symphony X, Satellite, Syzygy, and several others (it's really hard to narrow it down to just 10).

Impossible. Just impossible. I could select 10 favourites from each sub-genre alone. And then some. This question is not so easily answered, especially by me.

In no particular order (it started off in some kind of order, but then it got messy as I added some and sadly left out others) - not even 10! Another 21!

To qualify as a "favourite artist", an artist needs to have released at least three albums that I have and like. This excludes a lot of excellent artists that for one reasone or another I only have one or two of their albums. After creating a list of qualifying artists, choosing ten from the list proved difficult. The ten I chose from the many I didn't choose was based more on recent preferences. My favourite artist is: 01. Van der Graaf Generator / Peter Hammill The remainder of the list is in no particular order: 02. Yes |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I know what it's like to love a band that almost noboy does or forgot about. I love The Fixx and almost nobody knows them (Alex Lifeson is influenced by Jamie West-Oram though)
