Why dont many girls like prog?

I have to say that this has not really been my experience.  Most of my various girlfriends have liked some prog and continued to do so after the relationship was over, so they weren't just trying to keep me happy.  But certainly most audience members tend to be guys.  Even that, though, varies to some degree by country.  Prog concerts I've been to in France, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia tend to achieve gender parity (unlike hard rock or heavy metal in those same countries).  It seems to be a US/UK thing (I can't speak for Japan) if anything.

Why don't people who work in the auto industry like prog? How do we know that people who work in the auto industry don't like prog? We don't. How do we know that girls don't like prog? We don't. This thread has no point really.

One reason I like prog is because no one else does. It is a way I can escape from a world of 21 pilots and Panic at the Disco, whom are actually two of the better pop bands I have heard. But then again, I do wish people would respect my favorite type of music

If a girl is wearing a Slayer TV and can sing the whole lyrics of the Season in the Abyss album back to front, and tell you weather something is Prog, death, black, grindcore or NWOBH, I'm pretty sure she's a metal fan. In fact, I've met quite a few of those in my experience. I've also met prog fans who happened to be girls

The thing somewhere above about women preferring overall sensations/fenomena (I can't remember the exact wording) rather than details rings true with me, although I can't speak for everyone. I'm not really interested in discussing super-technical stuff, I don't care which exact sub-genre of metal I'm listening to, I find it jarring the way (some... plenty, in my experience) boys always need to know more than whoever they're talking to ("NO YOU DUMBASS ON THE LIVE VERSION IT'S ____ ON BASS") - I just want to chill and enjoy and let all the good music wash over me with cool people...

Why are so many rap fans and performers black? why are so many boyband fans teenagers? why are so many 50 Shades of Grey fans women?
We don't need to achieve some sort of bizarre quota and/or equilibrium, things are they way they are and that's fine.

"Sir, we have achieved an even split between native americans, whites, blacks and women when it comes to prog, but we've found 70% of fans are tall"
"I'm 1,84, sir and willing to give my prog credentials to a dwarf in order to reach the desired goal of an even split"
"Fantastic!...oh, wait..only 0.7% of fans are handicapped, we need to ditch almost 50% of the fanbase!"

I'm joking, of course but in a similar vein, I've seen guys complaining that certain movies lack girls, blacks, whites, etc. Positive racism/sexism is still racism/sexism. The only sin for a movie is lacking good actors because someone chose a cast based on things different from acting!
As you can see, I digress a lot

Going back to the topic. My gf loves prog. She's into Yes, ELP and DT among others.
