Welcome, I don't think there is any discrimination and rightly so. I'm a woman too, there are more of us here. There is Jean too, among the regulars

hah...... you hurt my feelings man. I only make good suggestions based on the individual and their tastes. Why would I suggest something Balleto di Bronzo to her... now if she pulls a knife on me and swears at me like a sailor.. then I'd say she is ready for YS.

Their wild experimentation and Dagmar's heavenly voice will open doors for Jade

Or maybe she will hate the avant-garde genre for the rest of her life

depends on the suggestions man.... it is an art... just because you like it doesn't mean others do or will. You have to listen to what to what they like.. and go from there.

What do you mean by more experimental music? Do you mean like Indie Art Music? I do like the music by Sufjan Stevens.

Don't know about pulling a knife on you but I do have quite the pottymouth for a 14 year old girl. Just ask my Mom. I get it from her.

It may be difficult to like at the first moment, but try In Praise of Learning by Henry Cow

It'd be a good decision to pay attention to the melodies/vocals on first listening, than try and fathom all the complex polyphony going on in the background

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

Speaking of interesting I am on the "Living In The Heart Of The Beast" track of the Henry Cow- In Praise of Learning and it is quite interesting. The music is awesome and the array of instruments and sounds in just all over the place that is making my head spin which is wonderful. The vocalist isn't really up my alley and is a bit weird, but not awful.

Dagmar is VERY much an acquired taste... if that is all and find the music to your taste.. then don't let her stop you.. she can and likely will grow on you.
