I should clarify to say that the cartoons themselves are often clever, and thee Build dat Wall image in response to my T-RUmp thing made me genuinely guffaw, but it's the incessant posting and re-posting of such stuff that can be irritating.
I would personally like a thread in Just for Fun dedicated to such stuff, and maybe a thread for more serious talk regarding Trump in General Discussions. Where it gets a little tough is that no matter how much we may loathe Trump, and find him ridiculous (and terrifying at the same time), turning this board into what looks like a hatefest on both Trump and his supporters is not really a direction that I think is good for having a welcome environment for Prog fans of different stripes.
Honestly, I'm more worried about eco and nuclear armageddon than the comfort of prog fans, and I do think that all beliefs should open to ridicule, and I am a free speech advocate, but it's a tough line. One is either preaching, incorrectly phrased, to the converted with all of the anti-Trump stuff, or turning off people who do support him. I don't think it's winning many people over, or changing minds. I think it's better to try to try to appeal to people's reason.... But we need humour too, especially as these are, for many, very dark times.

I like threads best where the topic starter remains an active participant in the discussion, and for fruitful discussion that tends to require patience, time, diplomacy and intelligence, none of which I have much of these days. Additionally, if such a topic were to be done, and I'm not saying that it should be, but I would be interested, I would rather such a topic be started by someone who is likely to come across as more neutral/agnostic on the matter, and is less passionate than I, and so is better able to respond in a thoughtful way to a diverse audience.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.
