 Topic: High contrast prog?

This is my first post here, so first i should say Hello! 
I like Opeth's album Ghost Reveries very much. I think it is a genius album, but I can't listen to it because of the demon voice parts. Could you recommend other bands or albums that use this kind of high contrast between soft and power music (but without the growls).
There are some bands that fit this description to some degree: O.S.I., Porcupine Tree, Riverside. (By the way, these are some of my favourite bands.)
Can you think of other?

If you want to go classic prog (and aren't familiar with them already), King Crimson was infamous for their contrasts between wild, jazzy and chaotic proto-metal and lush, serene balladry, with no death growls to ruin the mood.
The album Larks' Tongues in Aspic is about as extreme of a contrast that I know of between soft and powerful sections of music.

Have you already tried Opeth: Heritage and later? (It's Opeth without growls)

Heritage I tried, but unfortunately it's still "The Devil's Orchard". I think the other two must be in the same note... I would like to find something less horror themed.

check out the album "BE" by Pain of Salvation.
Also, the band TesseracT might somehow fit in your description.

yeah... I can dig that. I LOVE ... ADORE that Opeth album just for that reason. The contrast you mention. Sort of accentuates what a great voice Ackerfelt has. the first suggestion I might have as far as High Contrast.. might be the single best example of that. Not coincidently... one of the best prog albums ever made. Stunning soft sections... and hammer of the Gods kind of power and intensity. as we often say.. if this group had been english... it would be a top 5 site album. Musically it smokes 99.9 of the albums on this site. all hail the mighty.....

the oppesite of Opeth in sweden must be Therion, try them. Also try out Aereon, and Pain of Salation.

Haken is definitely a good place to start here, I love the super heavy stuff with a bit lighter vocals. Have you tried a lot of Symphony X yet? Their earlier albums are more prog than the last two which is more power metal. For them I would suggest The Odyssey, Paradise Lost and V.
Another band that you may like is Shadow Gallery. I haven't listened to all of their albums in depth but worth a shot!
