The local newspaper here in Cleveland, OH didn't even have an obituary for Keith. They had one, written by a staff writer, for Greg.

His vocal performances on the first King Crimson album had such a huge impact on me; I wish he hadn't jumped ship so soon, from KC and from this mortal coil. RIP

It's interesting that the news didn't cover this as much as they covered Emerson's death. I didn't even see Google News rank it at all, but somehow missed it the first day it broke.

Hard to believe this day has come so soon. It's interesting to do a day limited search on "Greg Lake" on youtube and see all the tributes, a few of which are coming from kids younger than 18.

I guess he did a very good job at Love Beach... perhaps he did sing better than on most ELP albums... but there is no way I would consider his singing there better than Epitaph, Court of the Crimson King, and Poseidon. Epitaph in particular is one of my favourite vocal performances in rock. |

I don't know whether it's in the genes or whatnot, but I believe Palmer's lifestyle didn't follow the usual excessive pitfalls associated with success and the Rock Industry. But then Keith's livelihood, passion and reason was hindered by permanent nerve damage. I can understand why Emmo did what he did. Greg enjoyed his life to the full. Bless him.
Those who think Love Beach is a 'dog' of an album, should focus on Greg's singing. Some of, if not the, best vocal performance from the great man. And his bass tone and playing on ITCOTCK, Pictures At An Exhibition and Tarkus is unmatched. |

Even Cozy Powell from ELPowell is dead.
We are running out of musical heroes. The only musicians relates to ELP alive are Palmer and Robert Berry (3) Edited by Ivan_Melgar_M - December 10 2016 at 16:12 |

Terrible news. These are the days I have always dreaded. When our heroes left us. I've been An ELP fan for most of my life. Thankfully I have seen them perform a few times but the fact that they are now gone...sucks. It sucks because as the years go by all of our favorite bands will become only memories.
Enjoy them and go see them while we can.

I have the Enso Kai CD. Great versions of the songs, and I do love how Lake sang them, however, rather bad sound quality. I guess it could have been worse, though. |

A warm remembrance from Ian Anderson:
So sorry to hear of the passing of the Great Gregorio. I thought of him only last night here in the big church in Reykjavik where I am for a couple of Christmas concerts. Greg gave of his time and generous spirit to guest with us at Canterbury and Salisbury Cathedrals a few years ago for fund raising on behalf of those grand buildings which we both loved. Of course, we played his I Believe In Father Christmas song which will doubtless receive much deserved play in the next two weeks in fond memory of one of rock's elder statesmen who brought to us his passion and musicality over his long career. God bless, Greg. Thinking of you tonight. Ian Anderson |

That's one of the few advantages of living in a country with a small musical scene, you always know somebody who knows the producer who brings great artists. |
