Some riffs are pretty difficult, but they're still riffs. And they don't change, or PROGRESS!

hehhe primus is not prog. i have to put the line there. stamp it down with perniment markers. if primus are prog then a whole crapload of other bands like them will spew forth from the pits where they came from and decicate our beloved site. primus= punk with prog flair but still not prog

NO NO! Primus is not prog! I have Sailing The Sea Of Cheese. Their music is fun, but it bores me after a while...
IF PRIMUS IS PROG, THEN SO IS RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!
Primus is a fun crossover, but not prog!

Recorded June 26 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, this live set captures the recently reunited trio’s final US summer date. Like each show on this leg of Primus’ 2004 tour, Hallucino-Genetics features a complete reading of the group’s Frizzle Fry album. Other highlights include “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” and “My Name is Mud."This DVD is formatted for all regions (NTSC). I was going to get that for christmas, it was only 16 bucks, but when i went back to get it, it was gone.
But however, My Drummer is on the back of the dvd in the crowd, he's the guy in the top leftish side with his mouth open like he is screaming from the crowd.
Anyway, PRIMUS SHOULD BE IN!!!!
WHERE'S MANNI!!!?!?!?!?!?
MANNI!!!!!!!! GET PRIMUS IN THE ARCHIVES BRUTHA!!!!!!

I agree! Primus sounds nothing like bands such as Hawkwind, Magma, Flower Kings and Marillion- all of whom are so similar.

Primus belongs here! They're more prog than Styx and they managed to get on here.

Primus
does nothing more than take one complex bassline, putting a weird
guitar on that and quite basic drums and REPEAT THAT SAME PART the
WHOLE song.
Reminds me of Peter Gabriel, but I guess he´s not prog either.

No.
Definately No.
I can't even believe you are comparing beefheart with Primus. Primus
does nothing more than take one complex bassline, putting a weird
guitar on that and quite basic drums and REPEAT THAT SAME PART the
WHOLE song.
Beefheart does NOT do that, his songs involve EVOLUTION. Zappa is on a
whole other level and shouldn't even be compared with Primus.
Seriously, I do not understand why some of you compare stuff that is not comparable.

I love Primus and there is a strong case to say they are prog but I'm not sure any member of the band would say they are though.
They supported Rush on the Roll The Bones tour I think.
Does anyone have their number so that we can ask them?

Primus should NOT be left out !! Claypool are one of the best
bassplayers on the planet and Primus are unique. |
Now now Jester, we can't be selfish, keeping all the best musicians for ourselves.
Claypool may be a phenomonal bassist, but that is no reason to class his band as prog.
