I immediately think of Steven Wilson.
I mean, there's some great stuff. And Gavin Harrison is a really great drummer, but mostly it's just enjoyable prog-pop. Never really understood why it was so popular in comparison to anything else.

Overhyped? I don't know. The result is it irritates me, and I don't want to listen to Porcupine Tree anymore.

Heh, exactly the same to me. I really had to struggle not to fall asleep during actually listening to the whole 3LP set "The Moon Moves Sideways" (or whatever) album by PT. Well, nothing against them as I sold the album to a Polish guy for 100 euros. And he couldn´t be happier. I had paid 18 euros for it, so that album is a special for me, I mean was  Big smile

That story is so heartmelting it almost made me cry. Can I hire you as my personal economic assistant? LOLLOL
Very well... but could you just try to sell your most boring records by yourself ? I have too many dull albums already and as an honest man I must listen them entirely before detailed evaluation for sale... it is just as interesting as doing housework or wash car (grin).

You may see a smile on Tony Banks´ face but that´s unlikely.

Musical box
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Well you can't really call songs that aren't popular or well-regarded as "overrated", so I can understand why he'd list a big name artist like Genesis.

Easier way: Call inspector Morse and he´ll arrest him because of bad taste.

^Kidding or not, for something to be overrated it has to be rated highly first. A consensus that agrees to its greatness. PA rates Genesis songs such as The Cinema Show, Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, The Musical Box, Firth of FifthSupper’s Ready the highest. In Too Deep, No Son of Mine, I Can't Dance, Invisible Touch ect... are just well known songs because they were once hits - and actually rated low if anything.

Pink Floyd (except "Fearless")
90% of ELP (although I kinda like some stuff)
approximately 50-60% of Jethro Tull
every thing by Genesis after Peter G.
"Golf Girl" Caravan (I hate this f**kin' song!)
Moody Blues

OK, I like "The Musical Box", but am I the only one who prefers side A of "Foxtrot" (or at least "Watcher of the Skies", "Time Table" and "Get'em out by Friday"). Does it mean I also qualify "The Musical Box" as an overrated prog song?

I think it's fun; that's probably as high a rating as it gets.

Same here.

Seamus is overrated! and More Fool Me! and Obladioblada! and Two Princes by Spin Doctors! Why? Because I don't like them very much!
