So Beefheart and Zappa can sing ???

Hallucino-Genetics DVD

Primus has released its first concert DVD, Hallucino-Genetics.

Recorded June 26 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, this live set captures the recently reunited trio’s final US summer date. Like each show on this leg of Primus’ 2004 tour, Hallucino-Genetics features a complete reading of the group’s Frizzle Fry album. Other highlights include “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” and “My Name is Mud."

This DVD is formatted for all regions (NTSC).

Personally, when I listen to Primus I hear a huge Zappa and Crimson influence. If that's not prog enough, then I don't know what is.

But I really don't care if they're in the archives or not...either way, it won't change how much I like the band.

Now now Jester, we can't be selfish, keeping all the best musicians for ourselves.

Claypool may be a phenomonal bassist, but that is no reason to class his band as prog.

I love Primus and there is a strong case to say they are prog but I'm not sure any member of the band would say they are though.

They supported Rush on the Roll The Bones tour I think.

Does anyone have their number so that we can ask them?

If so, then Primus also belong in the archives.

No.

Definately No.

I can't even believe you are comparing beefheart with Primus. Primus does nothing more than take one complex bassline, putting a weird guitar on that and quite basic drums and REPEAT THAT SAME PART the WHOLE song.

Beefheart does NOT do that, his songs involve EVOLUTION. Zappa is on a whole other level and shouldn't even be compared with Primus.

Seriously, I do not understand why some of you compare stuff that is not comparable.

Epic.

Reminds me of Peter Gabriel, but I guess he´s not prog either.

Primus belongs here! They're more prog than Styx and they managed to get on here.

I agree! Primus sounds nothing like bands such as Hawkwind, Magma, Flower Kings and Marillion- all of whom are so similar.
