Hmmmm, they are getting heavier again, just as I suspected. The track here isn't very engaging, though, hope the rest of the album is better.

The first part of the song sounds like royalty-free music and Mikael sounds like Michael Glabicki from Rusted Root. Not horrible but I hope the rest is better.

I didn't like it either. I hope they didn't try to please both old and new fans and came up with something mediocre.

I haven't dared to listen to it yet.

I was hoping somebody would have said it sounds just like Ghost Reveries.  Ah well.....

Glad to see that the band are finally playing metal again. I stand by my viewpoint that Heritage was the biggest blunder of their career and that while PC was a good album it was not at all the direction Opeth should have been going (there are enough vintage Prog acts in the world). I have no problem them losing the death metal side of their music (even though that is where they are at their best and most origional IMO) but they should at least keep some presence within the Prog Metal world.
Sorceress is a good song, but I will need time to see if it grows on me like Cusp Of Eternity did. It definitely feels more modern in production and more vibrant than what was found on the last 2 albums. Still feel like the odd Death growl would help where the song gets extra heavyWink. A promising enough start overall. Also glad that this is not the occult praising song I was fearing it to be (but giving the opposite message mostly) as past experiences would have made the album an instant no-buy for me.
