for example, the people I know or hang out with don't know who he is. And they listen and are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to rock music. That's why I said that.

^ Fair 'nuff, I just gathered there's a lot of metallers and Indie kids outside of Prog that are familiar with PT at least.

Camel indeed were never innovative or literally "progressive", just plain good.

I doubt that. Let's just say I am not on SWilson's X-mas card list.... I, and my hit squad of thugs and goons, was pretty much responsible for running him off of this forum when he joined here looking to soak up some hero worship

Is there a link to all this on the forum? I am so in need of a laugh.

Probably Yes, followed by Rush and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, respectively.

ahh... most overrated... Camel..
more underrated... that Genesis album.. it took a decade before they returned to their talents and strengths this album showed.. good song writing over prog rock overintellectualism and with their substandard musical talents...
the winner...
coin flip between GG and Magma..
giving it to Kobaia.. Stoah slays any track .. off of any of those albums

Re the artists listed in the poll, Yes for me. Floyd isn't far behind. And neither is the first VdGG album.
There are a bunch of favorite debut albums from artists listed on the site but not in the poll . . . too many to go through all of them and pick a favorite really.
I'll give one example, though: the first ELO album is probably my favorite ELO album.

Amon Düül 2's "Phallus Dei", Can's "Monster Movie" and Hawkwind's self-titled debut should be on the list as well

Monster Movie would actually have taken my vote off Camel.

Magma first album is an unique album for a unique band, so it's twice unique! The kind of album that brings prog to another level of awesomeness.

Presumably Script... isn't in the poll because if it was, it would run away with it?

I really think which , between the albums in this poll, Gentle Giant make the more consistent album, however, I also think which not is that which better represents the band style !

Today? NEU!'s debut. One of the most original spinetinglingly beautiful albums ever recorded. Of the albums listed here I'd say Kobaïa. Such a thrilling ride.
