Montenegro - Vivo (Very nice album, Gary. It was a good way to start the day  ) The Astroboy - The Chromium Fence (One of the latest electronic addictions. Soon on PA  ) Cynic - Focus (First listen. 35 minutes long and I thought it would never end  ) Witchwood - Litanies From The Woods (Cool retro Heavy Prog from Italy, but the album is quite long) Salem's Pot - Sweeden (One of those REALLY slow Stoner Rock albums... but still faster than Dopesmoker  ) Ahkmed - Distance (Another one of those cases Michael: a band from Melbourne but their label is German  )

I find it extremely rewarding when someone notices the love I try to put into listening to my music. That's something I have been trying to transport to my reviews for the last few months. Which reminds me: I have not written anything in quite a long while now... Will have to finish my Ash Ra Temple review I started about a month ago and have not touched ever since...

Of course!  I really can get a sense of how you feel or what your relationship is to music in general. Good luck with your reviews. Man, I'm lucky to write 1 review every 3 months or so. It's a pretty taunting task to keep churning them out. A lot of guys, especially Michael (Aussie-Byrd-Brother) amaze me what they can do, and of course is very appreciated on my end! ^ I totally get that, I only wrote 3 reviews this year and they were spontaneous: I was listening to the music and felt the urge to write about it (and had time to write them lol).
An unusually heavy day: Il Balletto di Bronzo - Ys (A great album to wake up  ) Symphony X - V (First listen. Fantastic music  ) Transatlantic - SMPTe (I still think it goes on for too long, it loses steam on the second half of the first epic.) Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition (After listening to their albums a few times, I think this is becoming a favourite) Moonspell - Wolfheart (It's good but still doesn't do much for me, maybe others will)

"It's a rainy day, sunshine girl..." However, I did do some nice listening.
Cos - Postaeolian Train Robbery. This great Canterbury/Zeuhl fusion helped me start my day. This is a very good album with an overall sound and feel that only Cos were capable of creating.
Wolfgang Rayner's Et Cetera - Knirsch. This was my very first encounter with this album and I must say I quite like it. Despite having some highly experimental, psychedelic, and even oriental-sounding parts, it is rather kept in a jazzy style. It does have, though, that raw, energetic punch, typical of krautrock, at least in my book.
Can - Future Days. I have taken this trip while exploring the rather boring, opressively large , tiring, and overwhelming depths of Ikea (I bought four Kallax shelves that will finally help me in storing vinyl records). At any rate, while during the first listen, I did not like this album at all, now I seem to get what it is all about and begging to really enjoy it... Really enjoy it...
Association P.C. - Earwax. Aiming to write a review on that one, so I thought just three or four listens to this album might not be enough. Highly recommended!

That title always makes me laugh I was reading the reviews of their albums as I was going through their discography and I noticed their latest has only a few reviews. I didn't write one though since I totally agree with yours, I certainly couldn't put it into words like you did
I should listen to his music again, his cold soundscapes contrast nicely with the really hot weather.

It's strange, Sam, I know a lot of fans are quite dismissive of that Riverside debut because it's not `metal' (or rather there's not a lot of metal stuff on it, certainly no more than a few minutes on the whole disc), but I always thought it was superb. There's even a surprising Steve Hogarth-era Marillion influence on that debut that they never sounded like again. I think I agree with you that `Anno Domini...' is their best, its certainly shows the most variety and the `poppier' moments on it are done really well. Quite an Electro-Pop sound on a few of the tracks!
I like `Second Life Syndrome' too, although it's a little more derivative and perhaps more text-book prog-metal or at least certainly the closest Riverside ever came to it. That was the only RS album I had for many years.
I don't believe the band have delivered anything close to a dud album, even if I personally feel the last two aren't quite as interesting. But some people (ie those who don't like prog-metal bands) REALLY dig the hell out of that latest album.

Yeah, it has not much Metal in it but I think it's still a heavy album, it has a very dense atmosphere. I think it's the keyboardist that give it a Neo touch, Lapaj brought a more vintage vibe when he joined the band.
You picked a good album to start with, I feel like I need to give it a few spins to get into it. It still hasn't clicked for me and the lenght doesn't help. I'd listen to it more if I had it though.
They are more Crossover these days. Between SONGS and LFATTM, I think the most shocking thing is the general change of mood, very light-hearted compared to their previous albums.

Pyramid - Pyramid. I picked this album to help me start my day because it's a) in fact just a single suite, so it's not lengthy and b) simply a nice krautrock album. Quella Vecchia Locanda - s/t. This is RPI I really like. I often find the whimsical romantic factor a bit annoying, as I'm not used to it. It was present here, but in a reasonable dose with all the fantastic elements. At times, the jazzy influence reminded me of Moving Gelatine Plates with flute as a lead solo instrument on rapid jazz instrumentals. However, that fantastic violin just brought in a bit of... classical music... Italian style! The vocals were beautifully melodious with that vibrato, that I am starting to get used to. It's an excellent album! Ash Ra Temple - Join Inn. Not blown away by this one, but it was a great listen anyhow. I'll allow myself to mention that I was at the beach, then, the weather being sunny, but windy and not your typical t-shirt-only-kind-of-weather. The ambient soundscapes corresponded extremely well with my walk beside the giant, foamy, rolling waves. I liked the more rhythmic side one (typical case with Ash Ra Tempel) a bit more on this one. A very good album! Guru Guru - UFO. I felt like I needed some psychedelic cosmic workouts to carry me throug the rough, moist sands, which are incredibly tiring to walk on. And this album never disappoints! This is pure, basic, vigorous, raw, energetic psychedelic overload. So simple, yet so amazing! This was my day!

^Listen to Ash Ra Tempel - Seven Up, one of the most psychadelic albums that i heard, and very intelligent too, it's like the music it's between two dimensions, oscillating in them until the end, one is of structured classical rock songs, and the other is total madness, a masterpiece!
