I think Folklore sounds like Gabriel era Genesis, granted I've only heard it three times. Not a bad thing per se, especially seeing as I dig that leg of Genesis' career. It does however end up scoring low on the originalometer.

I think a listen will be richly rewarded. I have heard Folklore four or five times now and it's still growing on me. Not the best new studio album release of 2016 so far imho, but probably the second best, something between 4.5 and 5 stars. It is on progstreaming, bandcamp and spotify.

Yeah, `clone' was definitely too strong a word I used (and probably came across as a dismissive negative), but the second one seems more...personal, perhaps the group finding their own sound a little more. Strange, apart from vocally in a few spots in the harmonies, I never really associated it with the Collins-era, but I can kind of see what you mean. I grow a little tired of EEpt1 by about the half way mark, but EEpt2 floats by in a lovely manner the whole way, if more sedate and reflective.

Haven't heard the new one yet, though.

Definitely one of the best albums of the last few years for me!

Both EE1 and EE2 are reminiscent of Genesis without being clones. But EE1 sounds more like Gabriel-era Genesis, something like the 21st century answer to Selling England by the Pound, whereas EE2 reminds me more of Collins-era Genesis.

Seven Impale slightly over Birds and Buildings. Can't wait to hear their follow up to City Of The Sun. I for one am hoping for more bassoons.

Had a difficult time choosing between The Tea Club, Lunatic Soul and Big Big Train... But I go for The Tea Club.

Definitely EEP1 by BBT.

Big Big Train over Discipline, but there are even better albums not in the poll (The Road of Bones, for example).

I'm surprised no one voted for Haken yet.
