Know your audience. Once in awhile tease them a bit but never scare them away. My polls are almost sociological/psychological experiments; sometimes I already have a good idea of what the results will be. The biggest reward is when someone actually discovers something that was previously unknown to them.

Some things I've noticed about the polls here;

- few read the poll question
- people will be unaware that a poll is multiple choice
- a few acts/albums will get all/most the votes (and not only Big 6/7/93 bands)
- proto/related acts in 'Prog Polls'
- you get a sense of what some members tastes are
