Not a Good Sign, from Italy. I can't get into most Italian prog rock but I do like this band. This track is from their recent album.

From their first album.

For those that love 70's symphonic prog, here is a modern take, from Progression by Failure recently released album.

That's it for now - do post your suggestions if you like these clips and can recommend something similar.

OK, been a month, been listening to a few more artists new to me that I thought I'd post about.

Another Italian band, Kingcrow, with a sharp, modern sound - their new album Eidos doesn't have a bad song on it.

Symphonic prog from the USA, the latest album from IZZ. I like this band's previous efforts, this one isn't as catchy as the older albums but still some good listening.

Something a little heavier - From Melbourne Australia, Transcience.

The new Leprous album 'The Congregation' is heavy and builds on some of the musical themes from their previous album, Bilateral (especially the standout song from that album - Coal).

Last one for this month - and it wouldn't be right if I didn't introduce another Polish band. This one is a band 'blindead' from the city of Gdynia and they play dark but still melodic heavy prog. This song is from their 2014 album absence.

Please post if you 'discover' a new band from these recommendations, and also don't forget to suggest a few of your own.

OK time for an update on what I have discovered over the last few months.

A relatively unknown band I just suggested to add to the archives here - Midas Fall from Scotland. Very melodic vocal post rock and I'm enjoying going through their back catalog as well as their recent release, The Menagarie Inside. Have a listen to this catchy tune.

Also with a new release this month - TesseracT's Polaris. This album is more polished and melodic than previous releases and clicks better for me.

Not so new from 2011 - Wolverine's Communication Lost. Darker melancholic heavy prog

The next one is a contender for 2015 album of the year. Sanguine Hum's Now We Have Light. Many decent tracks on this album.

Another great album for 2015 - Riverside's new album Love, Fear and the Time Machine. A bit more mellow than previous releases but still great music, perhaps more like Lunatic Soul. I like this direction although some who prefer the harder Riverside may not.

Abigail's Ghost's new release Black Plastic Sun. Not bad but I do prefer the new releases I have just posted previously. But still worth checking out.

It's not a prog rock. It's Indie or Brit-pop

I think Deandob has taken over this thread.....LOL...
at any rate thanks to him for posting that Sanguine Hum track as I am a fan of them.

Yep - this thread has turned into posts from me of tracks I'm currently enjoying, with some obscure bands and some new releases. I'm doing this in the hope that other members click on some of the links and 'discover' a new band or at least new tracks.

I was sort of hoping that other members would reciprocate with posting tracks of bands that they have recently discovered, obscure or not, that selfishly helps me (and others) to add to my ever growing prog playlist.

Come on people - post something that you have recently discovered, obscure or not, that you think I or others may like (hint - as you can tell from the links I've posted I like newer melodic prog with darker / melancholy sounds...)

For those who don't know how to post youtube videos - convenient for 1 click listens on the forum, cut & paste the youtube link in this format:
[~tube]replace_with_youtube_link[~/tube] (remove the squiggles)
but only do one link per post as the page won't load well if there are too many embedded videos per page - one link per post will roll over the pages quicker).

I'd be willing, but hardly any of the tracks I'd post have much in common with what's in here (although I enjoy some of the vids in your posts)... Anyway I've already posted every band I'm fond of, that very few seem to know, at least once on PA.

This is more of an older band but there's an obscure band called "Dies Irae" that released one album called "First". I think their stuff is pretty proggy for the time. They also have blues influences which is cool.
