Hmmm, now there's a question I've never asked myself - who's voice can I put up with more, Robert Wyatt or Peter Hammill?!

I definitely prefered Soft Machine when they ditched the vocals, although I agree with you that the rest is really good, very imaginative and daring psych rock.

Wyatt (vocally) is definitely a struggle for me a lot of the time. I can bear him a little more on Matching Mole, but I don't like his appearance on the first Hatfield and the North album, and it's stopped me looking into his solo works. Oh, Sam, if only that album was instrumental, or had vocals that weren't pained, flat amd weezy.... Sadly, I find it all but unlistenable because of not liking Wyatt's vocals on that one.

I know I'm in a minority not enjoying it, but thank goodness the music is cool, though.
