Very true.
But i ended up going with Caravan, simply because i've been in the mood lately for more "light" music.
In Absentia, Skinny Fists, Larks and such are fantastic albums - but If I Could..'s charm and playfulness has had be enamored recently. As does many other Canterbury masterpieces. |
Good call. That's the best Caravan. |
Easily.
Though Plump and Waterloo are top notch too. | Haven't been too impressed with what I've heard from Caravan, but I'm listening to the wrong albums it seems. Haven't heard those three. |
Land of Grey and Pink is lame. I reviewed it not too long ago after being sick of reading it as their best album by far.

Without Larks I would've had a hard time choosing between Schulze, Godspeed, and Banco.

Yeah, will check them out, at some point. Come to think of it, I think I've heard If I Could once, but I don't remember how it was.

Yeah, I seem to remember reading that review a while back, and agreeing with much of it.

Nursery Cryme is my obvious favourite. Next on a distance: X, Pale Communion and Ocean.

Of these: Hiromi's Time Control. Amazing chemistry among those four! One of the best fusion albums ever!

Flute & Voice is the only artist on the list where I don't think I've heard a single note of their music.

Too many good stuff and from too different epochs. I can't compare If I Could do.., Clutching At Straws, Doomsday Afternoon, Ocean, Sing to God, Larks, X, Banco and Wurdah Itah. Others I don't know or I don't like, but sticking on the number of listens I gave it during the last 30 years it may be the Caravan's

Another tough one, but went with a first love, the first Caravan album I heard. Wavered over Cardiacs and Magma... Still can't understand why Opeth are considered prog. I had the misfortune to see them in 2010 and there was nothing prog about them - I just don't get it!
