Quarto Vuoto are a modern band that play in a style similar to many of the vintage 70's Italian albums, lots of violin:
![]() They put out an impressive debut album last year: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=46111 |

I've brought the vino -Rumpole's Chateau Thames Embankment - but 've yet to see evidence of the red sauce and cigars.

That Quarto Vuoto album/EP is excellent, one of my faves from 2014. Highly recommended!

Hey there Coaster!
Yep, I spun it again at work last night, it's terrific. Very distinctive vocals on that one too! ![]() I think you might like the recent Sezione Frenante CD as well, that has a definite sound similar to the 70's Italian albums, really won me over! |

I do like it, Tom, really like it, but it's not one of THOSE favourites, if you know what I mean!
I can think of endless other Italian albums - the first Banco, Museo Rosenbach, Alphataurus, Biglietto Per L'Inferno, Murple albums, the two Quella Vecchia Locanda ones, Corte dei Miracoli, Celeste, Rustichelli & Bordini, Triade, E.A.Poe, J.E.T, Festa Mobile, the first Jacula album, Goblin's `Roller' etc - that are much more special to me? But you do have me thinking....I wonder which I feel is my favourite Le Orme album? You might be right, it's probably their best of their early ones, but for some reason, `Storia o Leggenda' is my personal favourite Orme album! I know, it's hardly their most challenging or `proggy' album... Ha....I'm on nightshift, so I'll play `Uomo' right now! ![]() |

For some reason I've never really explored Le Orme like I should even though Felona E Sorona is one of my fav RPI albums, of course Uomo Di Pezza is also very good.
But I wonder guys if anyone knows this little gem ![]() Odissea - S/T from 73' It's actually a very solid album, not one of the genre's highlights but definitely a good album |

Sagi, I seem to think I spun it on Youtube a few years ago, and I'm sure it shows up on blog sites here and there. Is it not available as a proper reissue at all? The cover is absolutely familiar, though.
I think if I remember it was a perfectly decent album, but I might have to give those clips a new spin when I get home to refresh my memory! |

I think it was reissued several times, my copy is a ragged vinyl and I do like it, I think it's worth the time especially after you've explored most of the genre.

Maybe it's just the fact that these early Le Orme albums were amongst the first RPI albums I discovered during the late-90's. along with PFM and Banco........
.........the door opened, I've come a long way, still. Uomo is the one that is 100% pure magic.... |

OK, Tom, I’ve just spun it again at work (on headphones too), and you are right, it’s a damn knockout. It probably is Le Orme’s greatest moment, all the players are in ferocious form!! There’s quite a...scuzzy unease to much of it as well, really dark and almost violent in parts! Damned if some of the fuzzy keyboards in the finale don’t sound like a Canterbury band as well! I definitely think `Uomo...' is their best overall.
Sagi, I adore `Felona e Serona' as well...but in overdosing on it over so many years now, there's this worrying conclusion I've been coming to (and you might want to get the rifles ready!) on my more recent spins of it.... It's all about that first track. The massive build, the diginified vocal, the spacey effects and the wild drumming in that warped finale...and then everything that comes after on the album is really nice and beautiful, but it never beats that first track? Thoughts anyone?! |

^ Yep, the first track pretty much kills the rest of the album, but that is because it's miles beyond brilliance. The remaining tracks are just beauties, forget the comparisons.
And Mike, how 'Dave Stewart' is the fuzz-organ in Alienazione ?? Pure Canterbuggers, I say. |

Well I'm definintely surprised now Michael
![]() Not at all for me, the first track is superb of course but I don't think the album drops after that one, there are so many great moments throughout, I love the vocals and always thought they are in contrast to the music behind which is really special. There isn't a weak moment on it, just check out Attesa Inerte with its really cool riff! |
