Back in NYC is my favourite toon on the album.  Which is by no meanz a snoozefest - that is just stirring from jealous ELP fans as they never quite did anything as brilliant ...

By Jove! It seems that you are engaging in talk and pseudo-intellectual claptrap that may yet result in fisticuffs betwixt us two gentlemen! All musical academics know that Messrs. Emerson, Lake, and Pall Mall routinely outdid the still on its own good "Back In NYC"! Please desist immediately, sir! TongueWinkLOL

I'll have you know young man - that I never attempt pseudo-intellectual claptrap.  I only deal in the truth. That being the component members of ELP were mainly trading in the good name of their previous projects.  Whereas 'The Lamb' is an original work by a group in their prime....Big smile

Anyway: I love the Banksian piano chords, and also for the rest it is a pretty good song.

Back In NYC

Gabriel's vocal range has always impressed and amazed me, and in Back In NYC did not disappoint - The most hard and ballsy vocals I'd ever heard him sing! Plus a great song...

Back in NYC is the archetypical 7/8 time prog rock song.  It's one of those moments that defines the genre.  Anyway is a song that carries us from one section of the story to another.  It's less of a showcase, though I still like it.
