Personally, I'm willing to split the difference and do it in a Camry.

The callbacks to what sounded like late '90s PT were kind of nice but on the whole, the record sounded really uninspired which was pretty saddening. Also I hate it whenever he tries to throw flute into his songs. They always sound out of place and ruin SW songs.

I'm listening to Happy Returns and i'm not a fan..

Edit: A couple more songs in.. this isn't sounding good at all. Wtf?

This may be one of very few Swilson-related albums i actually dislike..

It's kind of a serious disappointment, honestly. :(

Yeaaa.... I give up. The epic Ancestral did nothing for me either. Such a disappointment.

I'll keep seeing the 4/5* reviews though. It'll be #1 album for 2015.

^You should amend that.

I doubt I'll even work up enough motivation to listen to it. I don't tend to go for Samuel Williams' stuff, with or without Hedgehog Bush.

But, perchance, did you enjoy Cello Meeting or Yes-Woman? Maybe White Plains?

I've only listened to Hedgehog Bush and his solo stuff. And a little of Gale Erosion.

By the way, for the Modest Mouse fans in the room, what do you think of the new songs?

Excellent. Very energetic, and two of them have a kind of sludgy edge to them much like second wave grunge.

I was skeptical at first of Lampshades on Fire and Coyotes, but I'm liking each of the songs more and more. They've released five already. I wonder if they intend to release the whole album this way.
