The shred has a higher rating then KC's Red, but this place is still highly underrated

More twists and turns than a Flower Kings album. 9.3 / 10

STRAIGHT ON THE LINE BABY Actually the first 7 or so songs of that album are all heavy favorites of mine (Lips of Steel thru The Drinking Jim Crow). Then there's a couple of so-so tracks, but then it ends strong with 2 great songs again. |

ture, I'm glad the first four records are your favorite because I would be much more later-GBV/Pollard oriented otherwise and miss out on these gems.

The blue collar, workingman's prog. As reliable as a cheap local beer at a neighbourhood pub.

Seriously though, I just remembered that my first ever GBV purchase was "Fast Japanese Spin Cycle", which turns out to be a pretty obscure EP that I never seem to hear about and I almost forget it's there. I think it dates from the Bee Thousand period or just prior. I'd read about them in SPIN magazine and when I went to the store, that EP was what they had, so I bought it. It didn't really take me by storm, but a couple of years later I got Under the Bushes Under the Stars as a new release, after hearing the song "Look at Them" on my local "alternative" radio station. That seemed to get me more interested, and then Mag Earwig kind of sealed the deal. From there, I went backwards and that's when I got into the real early stuff which remains my favorite. |

Can confirm: Is maddening. But now that I am more or less caught up (I think?) I can hype up the next two scheduled releases. But I find it consistently awesome how people were introduced to them, your story is a great one. And there is a reason you like the early stuff, it's great. I don't even listen to that EP very often and it actually has some gems on there! It always makes me incredibly happy to hear how people delve into them. I, for instance, was introduced to them when they were on the soundtrack (Teenage FBI) of the PS2 game NCAA Football '06 and it was a decades-long progression towards trying to find literally everything Pollard released. Crazy stuff.

My experience with them is weird too.
Some crazed fanatic just tossed words and youtube links at me like a mad man! I almost broke down in tears from the distortion, the loud drums, but then.... he sang. That crazed fanatic was named Tan tan.
