Simple; later Yes epics.
I adore Mind Drive and am not too sure about That, That Is so I'll vote the former.

I think the line "she's strung out on crack time" kind of ruins the whole thing for me
![]() Be The One, on the other hand, is a very impressive piece that I think beats many of the studio parts of Keys II. Edited by Queen By-Tor - February 02 2015 at 12:19 |

Dunno. When I listen to Keys, I only ever listen to the live parts.
I'll have to give the studio parts a listen. |

"Mind Drive" easily. Mr. Wakeman especially is in fine form here. "That, that is" gets kinda boring at moments.

Probably That, that is by a tiny margin.
Both are commendable efforts yet, for me, lack the unified feel that their best epics had - these feel like bits of songs forced together.

That, That is for sure, though come to think of it I have yet to listen to the live versions.

Love both---but love that XYZ section of Mind Drive, that choppy Howe guitar not to mention the lovely acoustic stuff he does on it---and Rick is good too---so Mind Drive. These 2 songs prove 5 strong guys in Yes make the best music.

Mind Drive easily. I never really liked the other one. Too bad Mind Drive isn't really very cohesive, and parts of it are really underwhelming, if not downright annoying. The intro to MD, and the parts that I understand were from the XYZ sessions are really awsome... but the annoying "It's a small World"-like sections really puts the song a few steps lower... otherwise it would have been among my very favourite Yes songs. Be the One, on the other hand (as it was mentioned before) is indeed a wonderful piece of music, and easily my favourite from the Keys studio stuff.

Mind Drive, which has some good moments, at the end even a spine chilling moment.

I think Mind Drive is not perfect because of JA airy fairy lyrics about dancing or whatever---if it were not for this it could be up there with the greatest one's. But JA ego had a tendency to do this a lot especially in his later years---loving to hear his endless lyrics--- guess I sometimes try to overlook these parts.

Mind drive is a pleasant uplifting sort of tune while That That Is is certainly a darker subject matter.
But as songs I much prefer That That is, especially the part around 4:20 - 4:25 where the change up occurs. |
