my god. Tip to any newly married folk out there or need something to spice up your marriage. Buy your wife a Dyson, Raff has had hers about 6 months and she is still muttering how it changed her life and made her a happy woman And mine and made me a happy man... it's been 6 months since she asked me to help with the vacuuming.

^ it would seem so .. unless there is the Jen vs. Yes runoff, which Monsignor Micky said wasn't being planned.

Micky, this has been a lot of fun and an interesting view on how the site and the genre has changed over the years. When it started my thought was 'seriously, that's a lot of work to get to another Yes versus Genesis poll.' I'd never have predicted the final four to go down the way that they did.

now something like that.... that is a good idea in premise. We have had some whopper of polls and threads. It would take a lot of work to go back through, but a 'best of' would be a hell of a lot of fun. There have been some moments of absolute forum insanity here over the years. Crazy topics, even weirder discussions we had some priceless threads.. a lot regarding DT especially. Those were the good old days. Days when like fully HALF the active polls on page 1 were DT related. We did have fun kicking those kids around the forum, but man alive did they bring some life to the forum. my personal favorite was the 14 page argument between two certain pig-headed and strong-willed collaborators over a certain album's release date. Classic... and laid the groundwork for battles yet to come behind the scenes.

I'll eat my hat if a quick search doesn't turn one up Is there a topic, or permutation of such, that hasn't been touched. My favorite was the thread on Petrucci's breakfast cereal of choice. That was classic....

If so, I hope it's made clear that it's a poll to find the third-best prog band, just in case any newcomers think it's about which is the best.
|
now that would be fun, but I don't want to overstay the welcome. Everyone needs a break before the mammoth, marathon album contest kicks off. I've taken a break from working on that, I need to get back to that. Btw.. if you all happen to see some.. rather innocuous looking polls from me. Pay attention, they might related to the upcoming album contest. We have some hard choices to make, and one way to solve them is to put the answers to the questions.

This is a hard matchup to figure, at the start (of the contest as I had these two in my pre-tourny bracket reaching the final) I would have thought Crimson by a comfortable margin. They are (along with Yes, and ELP) the true kings of Prog Rock, but unlike those two they really don't have negative aspects that can turn people off.
|
You're not getting away without being called on it. I think you'll find it's Crimson, Yes, & Genesis. |
bah... Perhaps Genesis or Floyd to make it a 4 or 5 some.. but those are top 3 no doubt. The pinnacle of the prog food chain. They created prog rock, they defined it, and they popularized it and became the 3 bands that non prog fans associate (for better or worse) WITH prog.

Congrats to the mighty KC for a win that I would have thought impossible at the beginning ! I am even happier that the final was not the dreaded Yes vs. Genesis. Now looking forward to the Battle of the Albums! Bring it on!
