^ it's a headache to choose. All are so great and have their own unique character about them.

IQ are the consistent NEO Prog act I've ever come across. Arena is a very close second.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I haven't liked Arena much outside of 'The Visitor'. Pendragon had an amazing run early on, discounting Kowtow.

Let's hope they play Constellations, my favourite track off TROB by a mile. It's a good album but a combo of tracks from the 2 discs would make a better album.

Yeah, Constellations is my favorite right now as well, but I still need to give both disks a few more plays to really absorb it all.  In any case, I like the whole thing quite a bit.

Sadly, they didn't.

But it was a great gig!

yes the neo-progressive `80`s bands are a wonderous addiction to all the earlier prog rock bands. there where many that where not all going to breaking into the major arena stages. but the few would become on to for fill my listening to pleasure. so its the bands like Pallas/Pendragon/Marillion/Twelfth Nigth and IQ...

I`ve been happiest well within the neo-prog as a magical free feeling human being. there is the delightful bands IQ/Marillion/Pendragon/Pallas. its one way of seeking peace within the music of the bands of prog...

Their last album was great, never expected to be this good. Frequency was great, never thought they could reach that level again, and they did.

I came early to everything Steve Wilson...But I came late to IQ!
 I love IQ.
Whoo Hoo Hoo Hoo
IQ Dark Matter
The Road to Bones!

It's so sad that the talented IQ were forced to get day jobs to support their musical genius...
If they had recorded their first album in 70'...they would be touring like Yes or The Music Box by now...

Its an interesting thought as I well remember thinking that IQ were the only eighties band that felt close to that fearlessness of early seventies prog. The track that made me think that in particular was Through The Corridors. Some pretty impressive chops but also lyrics that are dark and abstract and need to be pondered over.

It wasn't until Par Lindh's Gothic Impressions that I had a sense of that again and then IQ come back with the impressive Subterranea album to put them back into my personal top spot.

and now we have Road Of Bones Thumbs Up

Guys. I'm still getting a ton out of IQ's latest masterpiece: the road of bones.
I am also particularly happy that Tim Esau is back and his bass playing on TROB is absolutely fantastic.
Those moog minataur pedals he uses are just awesome. They vibrate my entire house! :)

Reminds me of Rutherford's moog Taurus pedals he used for genesis. In particular, Squonk. :)

Anyway. I still feel at this point that IQ are in the #1 spot with in the Neo prog genre.
Arena is a close #2. ;)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

I'm glad Tim Esau is back on the bass, wondered what he was up to before returning.....
Now, TROB is yet another excellent album from them, but I still place Ever and Lush Attic over it. I have to listen more. I too am one of those that finds the bonus material a frad stronger than the album proper.
