Roger Waters

one could put it down to bitterness..if he wasn't so damn right about it LOL  Glimour was never a particularly gifted songwriter. Roger was (post Syd) the creative center of the group. Remove him and what do have ... an album in which RATT trashes anything and everything off of.

Sure, he's basically right but AMLOR is much better than the Final Cut and all solo Waters other than Amused to Death imo. Waters was the center of gravity in the band but the main problem was that Floyd were long since out of ideas by that point. Also, I never had the impression that Waters was ever the main musical force in the band.

I agree.....I never saw Waters as the 'musical force' behind Floyd as much as the lyricist and idea man and his bass playing and singing  was always average imho...and Waters took his idea for Amused To Death (arguably his 'best' solo LP) from Neil Postman's book Amusing Ourselves To Death.

Floyd gets my vote.

Five of my top 50 albums are Floyd, so it's a no-brainer really.

I really can't say. They're my two go-to bands for progressive rock and it's impossible for me to choose.

Your thought about AMLOR are mine about TFC: using the success of The Wall to collect cash by releasing a compilation of its worst kind of tracks. I can't stand that album... or any post-Floyd Waters' solo album Ermm

really... IMO you are talking apples and oranges there with those two albums.

this was late 70's Roger Waters you are talking about...the only man who could have given Fripp a run for his money as the Prog King of Curmudgeon and Acerbity...do you seriously think even the last thing he had going through his mind, in doing a album relating to his fathers death, one full of anger and lacking any semblance of melodic hooks LOL, was selling out and making a cash grab. oh no.  I think not man.

Even if so... hahah.. he failed miserably.. he needed a few more danceable beats.. or even a lame attempt to recreate the vintage early 70's sound to do that.

Fourth or FiF.  Also, HugHug double hugs to Kati for being so super.

When's the poll close, btw?  Hanging back in the shadows hoping to tie it at the very last second for whomever is trailing. LOL

I don't know what the lyrics are about: lyrics are not very important to me, it enhances the music, but if the instrumental bores me I couldn't care less about them Ermm I understand why some people like that album though, but it's not really my thing.

One thing TFC and AMLOR don't have is Wright's input, and I think the lack of it affected both album... and not in a good way.
