Topic: PA's Battle of the Bands Final!!! Floyd v. KC Posted: January 18 2015 at 07:13
Finally after 2 months we have reached the end. It has been a lot of fun everyone. Thanks to everyone for participating and making it all a bunch of fun.
64 entered.. 2 remain.
In the far corner.. we have the king of 'progressive' Rock.
The Machine.. aka..PINK FLOYD!!
In the near corner.. we have the king of Prog Rock.
KING CRIMSON!!
Vegas has installed The Machine as a 11.5 vote favorite.. .can King Crimson pull the upset. Not likely but surprises can happen, though they rarely do on PA's

Floyd by miles.
However innovative, technical and influential KC are - and they undeniably are - I find much of their music unpleasant to listen to.
Floyd also produced some stuff I don't like, but their run of good to amazing albums from Atom Heart Mother to Animals is so far beyond anything KC did that it is no contest for me.

As great a final as one could hope for. Of all bands/artists represented here on PA these are two of the most innovative and influential bands of Progressive Rock.
King Crimson for me. Everything they did 69-74 is very special to me.

I'm sorry KC
It was a very fun and unpredictable battle, thanks Micky!
well I don't know about the unpredictable part hahahaha.. but it was fun.
Just an appetizer though for the Battle of the Albums.. we've already invested a lot of time into putting that together and there is still a lot more to be done. This was something I threw together on a lark.. the album contest is getting a lot more input and thought into the composition of it.

Well, the Le Orme vs Rush was unpredictable even if Rush won in the end, or the fact that the final is not Yes vs Genesis

Cool, can't wait
yeah true... as I posted earlier.. at the start I had Yes v. Genesis penciled into the final in my bracket. I did have JT and KC going out in the first round to far superior bands. ELP making all the way to Floyd and going down in an epic battle Oh well.. so yeah.. I guess it was unpredictable. Those early rounds were a hoot. Always the most fun in these kinds of contests before the blue bloods assert their dominance.

KC. Had they not had the Red album in their vast discog, my vote would have been different. But with Red, they added a visceral rawness that was never really a part of Floyd's arsenal.

How could I forget the ELP vs Camel epic battle: songs will be sung about it, I just hope they are not from Camel
