The Strawbs "Autumn" suite leads into "Winter Long" section. Camel's "Ice" as well as Anathema's "Emotional Winter" figure nicely . More later

As far as prog goes, Harmonium's "En Pleine Face", for a song. I'd say that Godspeed's F# A# feels a lot like winter, in a way, too.
Though to indulge in some non-prog, Bon Iver's Blood Bank is as winter as music gets.

I always give these a listen in wintertime...not much logic to it but I think it's because I bought the album and got into it in the winter...
Blood on the Rootops - Genesis Back to the Family - Tull Battle of Epping Forest - Genesis Les Cathedrals - Fireballet Recycled Suite - Nektar Cloudbusting - Kate Bush Sailor's Tale - Crimso To Be Over - Yes Speak My Name - IQ The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch - Eno |

^My type of logic. I enjoy Tull's Arabic sounding Roots to Branches album in the wintertime and I have no idea why.

Now that you mention White Mountain it reminds me of the greatest wintertime recording I ever had. It was Christmas day 1976 and I had gotten a recordable 8 track deck from Radio Shack that morning. Around 7pm that night I had my local FM "rock" station on and they announced they would begin the live Genesis show in a few minutes. I couldn't believe my ears so scrambled like a maniac to get my 8 track deck hooked up and ready to record. I barely made it, but threw a 90 minute blank 8 track in the deck just in time. What followed was a 90 minute live recording of the Trick of the Tail tour with Bruford on drums. I have no idea when the original concert was recorded (according to my research, the only Genesis '76 tour radio simulcasts were shows in Apr and Jun) but it was fantastic. One of the big setlist surprises was White Mountain. Years later when the 8 track died I never had transferred the show to cassette which was a major screwup I've not recovered from In the 90's I found a double CD boot of the '76 tour that claimed to be a radio simulcast and I thought I'd recovered a prog holy grail, but the sound quality was horrendous so I passed...still searching

Enablers - End Note
Evpatoria Report - Taijin Kyofusho Glass Kites - Slowly (Home) Kayo Dot - Wayfarer Porcupine Tree - Buying New Soul One of the best Post-Rock albums of all time. This song is just mind-blowing. Just put this song on when you're not doing anything and you just want your mind to drift. The timing, imagery, textures, everything about this song just evokes a deep guilt, sorrow, and introspection. And to put the music into context, the song title relates to this: is a Japanese culture-specific syndrome. The term taijin kyofusho translates into the disorder (sho) of fear (kyofu) of interpersonal relations (taijin). This culture-bound syndrome is a social phobia dealing with social anxiety. Those who have Taijin Kyofusho are likely to be extremely embarrassed of themselves or displeasing to others when it comes to the functions of their bodies or their appearances. These bodily functions and appearances include their faces, odor, actions, or even looks. They do not want to embarrass other people with their presence. This culture-bound syndrome is based on fear and anxiety. "The symptoms of this disorder include avoiding social outings and activities, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, panic attacks, trembling, and feelings of dread and panic when around people. The causes of this disorder are mainly from emotional trauma or psychological defense mechanism. It is more common in men than women. Lifetime prevalence is estimated at three to 13%." Brilliance.
