I prefer their drivel. Problem?

Is there going to be a poll where we can vote for the best "Yes vs Genesis" poll? |
Someone should do a search of all the various Yes versus Genesis polls over the years and add up all of the results to see who the ultimate winner is.
Granted, we'll probably find that the results are something like
Genesis: 11,651 Yes: 11,651

Both bands stuttered by 1977, some marginal decent material appeared afterwards. I remain a huge loyal fan of both but the last albums I bought on release was 90125 by Yes and Three Sides Live by Genesis. Last saw Yes live on the 'Union Tour' and Genesis in 1987. There I left them both with treasured memories.

- Yes: 36 votes - Genesis: 48 votes
Does that mean that there so many people who actually like only one of the two bands, provided the options below as well?
- I like one band more than the other: 1 vote - I dislike one band more than the other: 1 vote
I think my proper answer would be "Now I'm so confused that I don't know what to do."

Poll Question: Who is more popular in PA, Yes or Genesis? I would say Genesis is more popular....as far as my personal taste I like them equally.

referring to what a lot of people have stated an unabashed love for as 'sub par drivel' is obnoxious. goes a little beyond 'an opinion'

No it doesn't... no matter what you may feel about it, it is what I think - and with good reason. Where is the musicianship in Genesis' music? Which band member is even halfway proficient? It all boils down to repetitive and grating melodies. 70's and 80's Genesis are the same thing.

Easy does it, PP. Describing the musicianship of Genesis the way you did was a tad out of line. I mean, Gabriel, Banks, and Rutherford had only been at it since first collaborating as schoolboys, and Collins and Hackett have easily and consistently ranked among the best of prog drummers and guitarists plying their craft. As for the band's post-Gabriel and Hackett era, there still was some consummate ability to deliver the music no matter how good or bad the music really was. I can't really put Genesis under the Yes guys or vice versa when it comes to how well they'd honed their collective skills as musicians. As for whose a better band, well, pick it (and you did). And lighten up.

I would have to say If you look at that specific time period and compare the output Genesis definitely wins.
Wind and Wuthering: better than Going for the One And Then There were Three: way better than Tormato Duke: not quite as good as Drama
2 out of three for Genesis.

the thing about this poll, is that it obviously isn't constructed properly to have a meaningful vote if you like both equally....so just keep voting for yes if you hold that position until they catch up.

Tony Banks is one of the greatest ever keyboard players - not my opinion but that of Keith Emerson
Steve Hackett - sub par? I don't think we really want to go there do we
