Prog Archives can be intimidating to new comers, but it's not as scary as one might perceive really, once you refuse to leave and get to know the members plus collabs better, you'll realize they are all really so darn sweet nice people. Big smile Yep sometimes their sense of humour is a bit off Confused but when it's good it's hysterically funny! hahahaha I laugh for days LOL
Bottom line here is that you should not be phased by others, be yourself, don't take it personally, if you mean well even my utmost favorite grumpies will like you too Big smile big hug to you Hug

I do find it funny that users who know how to register can't close the door on the way out :-)

FB is not much use unless you know how to take advantage of this Big smile Also on fb I have over 3600 friends. I am very picky and only accept friend requests if they have friends in common with me, thus common interests.  Big smileHug

facebook would be ok if you could turn off the exposure of friend's friends
You hand pick the people you want to communicate with but unfortunately you're exposed to every inane opinion your friend's friends have. and you keep getting friend suggestions based on those idiots.

I used to write for a particular movie magazine so I just had a related account
 
people I interviewed, people I wanted to interview, people i'd met along the way.
it was just a means for networking really - so it was no great shakes to give it up
 
I gave the whole thing up .. too much bitterness, sour grapes, and like I said - desperation - in that field.
