Dear Admin

The following album is by a band which used to be known as "Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash" and whose previous albums have been filed under "Wishbone Ash" on Progarchives

The band is no longer known as Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash following a copyright case brought by Andy Powell so I'm not sure where the album should go but please could you consider adding it to the site in the most appropriate place?

Thanks

Alan Bloor

I'd stick it in VA: tributes.

^ In this case we'll have a collision: "Tributes to bands classified as proto-prog and prog related bands should not normally be added." (http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2635). Confused

On a related subject:

I have been wanting to propose a (relatively) new fusion band for the PA database, but the admin requires a few MP3s for their evaluation.

How could this be done in the legally neatest way, without appearing to be distributing "unauthorized copies"?

I agree, the album is credited to "Martin Turner and Friends" and they're not in PA as a band (as far as I can see) so it would have to be a tribute.

But what's about PA rules: "Tributes to bands classified as proto-prog and prog related bands should not normally be added." (http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2635)? Wink

"not normally" being the operative phrase. Wink

I would imagine the Admins would allow this one considering the circumstances.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Tribute album section it will be.

Could someone point me towards the page on Progarchives that tells you how to add an album, please?

^ Shortly:
1. Go to this page: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2635
2. Click "add albums" - the form appears.
3. Fill the fields and choose the cover (you should have it as jpg or jpeg file on your PC); the cover will be automatically resized to 300x300 pixels.
4. Click "Submit".

To check what's added and how, go to PA "About" page: http://www.progarchives.com/about_us.asp.
You'll see the title of added album under "NEW ALBUMS ADDED", click it and look what you've done.
Have a cigarette and drink your beer (or whatever) to celebrate the addition if it's OK.
If something's wrong, post in this thread: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82726.

More info:
PA guidelines for adding albums: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73146. Please follow them.
Example of correctly added V/A album: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=34455
