Not really prog, but not really anything else, either. Wonderwall Music by George Harrison. Not really proggy but a lot of sitar-ie.

Excellent reference. I would also strongly recommend A Handful Of beauty and Natural Elements by Shakti and John Mcclaughlin

I think from memory (without digging through my complete collection of Strawbs/Hudson Ford albums) that he also played it on Fingertips from Antiques and Curios and Shepherd Song from Witchwood. He certainly did use it on Nickelodeon but on which tracks, I'm not sure. Strawbs really were (and still are) a marvellous band. I saw the electric line up on a dreadfully windy night in York when they played to just 50 people (most couldn't get there die to travel problems) and they were fantastic. Despite the tiny crowd, they put everything into the gig.

Hey Tony! I think you might be right about Fingertips. I do remember dulcimer on it. And definitely excellent sitar on "The Shepherd's Song", one of their first tracks with mellotron and moog. It seems to me that there was a song called "Angels" on the first Hudson Ford album that was sitar-rich. There may have been others. I don't think Hud played any sitar on either the "Don't Say Goodbye" or "Ringing Down the Years" STRAWBS albums in which he played in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

By "SITAR" do you mean an actual sitar or just something that sounds like a sitar?...

Le Orme - La Ruota Del Cielo (album L'infinito): I've been thinking this piece couldn't miss here, under any circumstances, for having the best sitar intro followed by such an amazing sitar melody! By the way Greinski is damn right, Le Orme's Aldo Tagliapietra DO play the real sitar !!
