too funny

I have not been into DT for sometime..I just finished re-arranging all my vinyl on shelves, looked at Scenes....but put it back. I am doing what Portnoy originally suggested, a looooong hiatus

To be honest they can a little embarrassing(ok, ok they can be flat out embarrassing). Beyond This Life is hysterical. I mean what is Rudess doing on that song Sick

I really like concept albums, and for me this one is right up there. Most concept albums have some quirky songs in the mix. I am not a big Rudess fan as I think his sound is always the same, album after album. But it seems he is a good writer, he and Myung keep them somewhat grounded

Today I am indifferent on DT, the last album really lost me, nothing inspiring or different.

All the while Portnoy keeps doing pretty neat and different stuff with all his other projects.
The new Flying Colors album sounds pretty interesting.....

^^^ IMHO,they did have plenty of potential as they are very capable players but to me what they try to do is over complicate matters and that most certainly does not help matters. Anyway, they have the potential and talent(more so with Porntoy LOL  I mean Portnoy) to come up with gems Smile

I really think Dream Theater are a spent force creatively speaking. Even people I've spoken with who have been longtime fans of the band say they don't listen to them much anymore. All of this only reiterates the old saying "All good things must come to an end."

All I said was that they have/had the potential whether now or in the past. They have never really spoken to me by the way
