Very interesting choice with Wilco. Any song that really stands out as a drum song that you love by them?
Grizzly Bear has great percussion and a unique approach to the kit.

I still need to check out Interpol.

Perhaps I'm just riding my own obsession with the band by putting Samfog at no 2, but he really is the bees knees.

Glen Kotche does a great job in Wilco, though, particularly circa Yankee Hotel Foxtrot/A Ghost is Born.

Mine aren't in any order really. So don't look at them like that - if that was true Beauford would be much higher.

I have Yankee on CD out of the sheer recommendations i see for it, but i just hasn't grabbed me yet. I keep starting at the start and can't get pasted a couple of songs.

Choosing not to include straight jazz drummers as that would be basically the entire list.  Also this is off the top of my head so I probably forgot somebody I love.  No particular order.

Jaki Liebezeit (Can)
Mani Neumeier (Guru Guru)
Chris Cutler (Henry Cow)
Zappi Diermaier (Faust)
Christian Vander (Magma)
Torstein Lofthus (Shining, Elephant9)
Herb Alexander (Primus)
Pierre Moerlen (Gong)
John Weathers (Gentle Giant)
John Henry "motherf**king Bonzo" Bonham

edit: nuked Muir since he mostly bangs on plates and sh*t
edit2: needed more Pierre Moerlen

Not going to lie, I barely even like Guru Guru but it's easy to recognize their drummer's massive talent.

Even for people who don't like Primus at all, it's impossible to deny how insanely well those guys can play.  I mean, hell, Larry Lalonde used to take guitar lessons from Joe Satriani (and far surpasses him IMO)

edit:  I mean... Primus sucks.

3. Keith Moon
4. Phil Collins
5. Bill Bruford
6. Alan White
7. John Densmore
8. Ringo Starr

here's the 10 favorites made at the spur of the moment, although the top 5 has already been planned out, plus he is an awesome metronome maker [matching the notes with the tempo making himself be like one if that makes sense which probably doesn't])

Yeah, I think the connection was made by the engineer who used to run a music electronics company with Arthur Sloatman who was Zappa's guitar tech.

Indeed. Just give me a few years and I'll have met the Frankergeist himself.
