There are many albums that I've absolutely hated at first, but that have grown on me in time and even come to be among the most treasured albums in my collection.. safe to say that hasn't happened with Supertramp yet, but you never know.. you always get another chance.

Talk about chalk and cheese - I really enjoy Crime Of The Century, but Raven blows me out - with the track 'Luminol' alone......

The Raven is a very good album, particularly in these latter, degenerate days. Wink

But Crime is a classic, and superb from start to finish. Bloody well right!
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

UPDATE: "Crime of the Century" now has exactly 1000 ratings on its page while "The Raven" is just 11 short of it. congrats, Supertramp! lol Also, Mike Oldfield's "Ommadawn" has the same rating as "Crime" with a 4.34 rating as of late, but that could still change, though.

Both are great, but I'd sooner reach for Crime of the Century, which has a pretty cool feel to it. For some reason I just don't connect well with the Raven even though its obviously very well composed.

Raven, but I've only heard the entire CotC once, so perhaps that's not fair...

Supertramp Crime of the Century

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Crime of the Century for me. Very fond memories of that, especially School and Dreamer.

A strange comparison...but the poll is there, so...I prefer Crime of the century, beyond The Raven is really good too. But Supertramp has some stunning prog tracks there, prog and catchy sometimes. School, Rudy, Bloody well right, Crime of the century, etc.

Sometimes a radio-friendly and pop-oriented album ranks higher than many "virtuousism-oriented" prog albums i've happened to know in the PA Forum.

I grew up with Crime ot the Century as a teenager in the 70's. (An album that I enjoy a lot.)
The Raven by a very large margin.
