Yukkkk!

Chris' album is nice, but Nobody and Best Kept Secret are both really nice albums, but we can't get past the Chicago style and hear something different. Both albums are excellent, and in many ways much more enjoyable than Chris'  in my book. And not pretentious!

Kinda goes to show you, how a known artist gets heard, and the rest? ... see you later aligator! Even Dean is not immune to that! Well, I'm  not either, so there! We're even!
Yeah, I really said all that, how fCensoredking clever of me to bury so much hidden fCensoredking meaning within so few fCensoredking words. LOL

You're smarter than this.

Fish Out Of Water is not even remotely pretentious. On the other hand, Song of Seven....maybe

Slightly clumsy in writing and structure, but not that bad.

Still don't think it's a 5*.

When I posted it, he had a 1 star rating, even though he stated it is a 4 1/2 star album.  It seems he's changed it.

I am a bit confused about this, certainly an innovative approach?

I thought it was a brilliant idea when I began, but it caused about a week of writer's block and I'll probably never do it again. It made more sense as a single post - when it's under the individual albums I can see why it's confusing.

I called it "experimental reviewing". If we have experimental music, why can't we have experimental music criticism?

^ the first of which is probably my favourite on the whole of PA.There are no hard and fast rules for a review and if you actually need to refer to the guidelines before submitting one, at least acknowledge that common sense might just be becoming a niche market hereabouts.....

A massive fan-base for these new Spanish guys apparently...

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=45418

Although seems legit, listening to the album quickly does NOT seem to warrant straight 5* reviews...

Maybe they've got low standards?

:-P
Nah Thanos, it irritates me as well, when we do have this star rating system, that people use it like they talk to females in bars. 'Yes baby, everything is just fantastic about you. Never seen such a beautiful forehead before. You are truly a masterpiece!'.........on their way home they run into Angelina Jolie wearing nothing but stilletos and an iron belt, but they've run out of nice things to say, and can't quite understand how they just said that other chick was a masterpiece.
Take it from one who knows: there are two kinds of attractive women. 4s and ostridges. 4s are the ones where your pecker gets seduced, the ostridge takes your heart.

Same way with music, but people will rather throw 5 star reviews around like they hung from the trees. "5 nice guitar solos and mellotron?? 5 stars right there"

^ enjoyable reading

but the case here I assume (and only assume) is one of many we have seen before: "hey guys, we are on PA, write a review go on and glorify us!"

I know, and we've seen this before. Could be the local fanbase sure.
I am worthless in regards to this matter, but I'm sure both Keishiro and Andy will be able to spot if there is foul play afoot, ie if some of the reviews stem from the same dude and all that.

Still. It's worth the discussion methinks: do people feel it's ok to do these massive fan things? What are your thoughts?
Personally I would just like to see the reviewer openly admitting to being the bassist/ tuba player's sister/ in house studio fluffer. I hate it when people disguise themselves as 50 year old prog fans that just got a boner over a new cd... Come on!
