As everybody knows, Dexter Frank Jr. and Don Azzaro are pseudonyms for Roine Stolt...Just wondering is he thinking subconsciously that he considers himself to be a mortal with pretensions of being like the holy trinity (Father, Son, Holy Ghost)?
Seems plausible, why else have the aliases?
I would agree that X is a good CD, not too sure about the latest though, might give that a spin tonight again!

Then again on the second spin - Brief Nocturnes is very very good ! Especially 3, 6 and 7 all of which are actually the best things they have ever recorded !!! - the rest are very solid - an excellent CD and I've still got the bonus disc to play as well!

According to Roine, he used those because he felt it was a bit too egotistical to have his name listed so many times on the CD liner notes.  So he has said in the past on the Yahoo group as well as a couple of interviews (as far as I can remember).  So he used the alias' to make the Flower Kings seem that much less like just his project.  You will also see Geppeto Azzaro on a couple albums........this is Tomas Bodin and was just used as kind of an in joke by him and Roine.

I also remember that those names are all anagrams of Roine's full Swedish name (he has a middle name, though I don't remember what it is)......can't recall the details there (I could be remembering this wrong also, not sure).  In any case, I think you're more than a little too fixated on the religious aspects of things where Roine is concerned WinkLOL

I was just putting forward my hypothesis, probably off the mark!
and I had considered the rationale that you have put forward as an alternative hypothesis! I think that yours wins! I reckon that he should have put his name instead! Such modesty is perhaps an admirable trait -but perhaps (as he should know - The Truth Shall set you free, and in this case he is imprisoned by his modesty!)

Well, obviously he doesn't worry about putting his own name on it anymore.  I think after the initial couple albums it just became a running joke.  All fans knew it was Roine, but he did it anyway just for consistency and humor.  I think it stopped around Unfold?  Anyway, I still remember assuming back when I got my first couple Flower Kings albums that those were all actual people.  Funny to find out they were all Roine.

Yeah, I usually point out to people that it's Roine's solo album, but even I consider it the first Flower Kings album.  They played tracks from it for many years, while not playing any other Roine solo works, and it's in the same style as TFK's albums that came after it.  So as far as I'm concerned, it's the first FK album.

Of course, Roine has said in the past that he didn't really consider TFK's a true band (as opposed to a solo project) until around the time of Stardust We Are!!  So there's that.

Yes the internet is great for looking up this & that. But I`m more of
a magazines, books the printed words. Guy ok. But apart from the classic rock prog magazine there are not to many others being sold in
newsagents, supermarkets ect...... Now online you can find more magazines on the topic of PROG. But there ever from another country written in Spanish, French not English. Or U.S.A.. Where you well end up paying import tax on top of the price of the magazine in the first place. there are two I`ve been looking into buying.
1. Acid Dragon
2. Progression

Both are written in English one is U.S.A .?. As anyone any else been buying them. if so which is the best one to be getting first.

Nice!  It is fun.  I'm mostly an acoustic guy nowadays.  My acoustic duo has a few gigs this summer, but figuring out sound is kind of a chore.

Anyway, just checking in with y'all.  I feel inspired to listen to Space Revolver and Bridge Across Forever today.  Hope all are well.    LOL
Stardust we are.

This thread has been very quiet of late. Just saw the Peart quote where he reckons every release before moving pictures is childish rubbish!
I'd agree with him on the release, Moving Pictures, but that's where Rush Music STOPS as far as I'm concerned!
Looking forwards to the new IQ release anyway!
