Of course not, you can see it's identifying symbol in the frontal side of that cover I uploaded. Exit... Stage Left is another show which I mentioned as having the performing of Xanadu that I most enjoyed. Edited by Rick Robson - January 31 2014 at 14:32 |

You heard it here first. Red Hot Chili Peppers to play Side 1 of Rush's 2112 at the Super Bowl Halftime show on Sunday. http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/music_and_videos/red-hot-chili-peppers-spoof-single/
Or at least that is what drummer Chad Smith says in jest. Edited by rushfan4 - January 31 2014 at 12:33 |

^ I'm more amazed that a rock band is playing the superbowl this year at all.
And I hope they at least play a riff from it as a joke.

They should open their performance with the opening of 2112.

For a set that short, though, even the minute-long spacey synth intro would be a big chunk out of it.
(Not that I'm opposed to it!)

Agreed. Wow. Interesting news. Very interesting. RHCP are ok by me. I think Californication had some great songs on that record. OTHERSIDE is an amazing song. One of their very best. Great album of 1999 |

Reading about Peart's comments came to mind my good times listening to my double sided vynil LPs in the beginning of the 80's, among them Exit... Stage Left was a good example of that, but i also had the studio LPs Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. Other ways of listening to music...

Did Rush stop being a prog band with GUP and pretty much stayed non-proggy since then? Maybe Clockwork would be prog.
I'm actually not sure how to define prog. I would say at a minium there should be long songs with lots of instrumental passages, odd time signatures in parts and some time signature changes. No matter I'm very pleased to have all this "new" material from my first love. |

^ oops my post got clipped
I had said that I was greatly enjoying the 1980s Rush having previously skipped everything after GUP. I spent the last couple months listening to all the 1980s Rush and would rank my favs: 1. Grace 2. Power Windows (awesome) 3. Presto 4. Roll The Bones 5. Hold Your Fire (distant 5th but still enjoyable). But it occurred to me that most of the music isn't really proggy. I actually really like songs like Hand Over Fist and Anagram but they are really pop/rock no? Same for lost of tunes. But it's all really good. |

well, if your taste runs toward shrieking and generic ham fisted bombast, then rush is tip top. otherwise, its a pass.

As odd as this is, it's a good thing. American Idol is a huge social media platform, so if getting a quality band out there(exposed) to people who are unfamiliar with RUSH I'm all for it. This is a great way for people to learn. Rush have been getting more recognition and respect the last couple of years and I believe it's only a matter of time till they take over the world!!! Seriously though Scott, I'm looking at this as a positive even though that guy can't cover Geddy worth sh*t. |

I find myself rooting for this guy to win solely based on him being a Rush fan and doing a Rush cover. They actually showed him on the news this week singing a duet with a local girl so he is still in contention.

I don't think I've ever seen the house band that animated either.
Also, Nikki Minaj is out. There is a god! Edited by HemispheresOfXanadu - April 18 2014 at 22:14 |

Received yesterday the 40th Anniversary Rush debut album package. Real nice box set, includes a lot of nice extras.
The vinyl is 200g using DMM pressing process, excellent sound brilliantly done. |
