I've tried adding a signature but it won't show. So I removed it. Do I have to reach a certain amount of posts before I can have one?

No you don't.

What are you trying to have as one?

Thank you both for your replies. I want to have signature links like the both of you have. I'm trying to add clickable links to my P.A. album reviews and a couple to my artwork. But no matter how I do it, even just testing with one letter or word to see if would take, nothing shows. Do I need to click reset form? I've been just hitting update profile, which I would think is all I need to do. I’ve noticed when I go in to edit afterwards that it shows the count as zero even though there are characters in it. It also sometimes would add partial html code when I used BB codes.

You have to confirm whether you want to add your signature is attached to your post. While it looks like your settings say this box should always be ticked, you may, for some reason, have it unticked. See here:

Just check to see if "show signature" is ticked. I entered a "test signature" for you.

Thanks for your reply. In my account under the profile I do have it set to to yes for "always attach signature to post". But that looks different than what you are showing me here and looks like what is below this box I'm typing in. It is checked for show signature here. So I will post this and see if your test signature shows.

OK, now that worked. I had assumed that the signature would show on all posts made already and is where I was looking to see how it looked. But now I wonder if I do put something in and decide I want to change it (say if I made a mistake or don't want that in there anymore anywhere) will that be permanently in the post?

The little signature preview thing doesn't seem to show things accurately either.

Thank you for your help!

The signature in your posts are not permanent.  They will change to whatever your current signature is whenever it is changed.

Thanks all, for your help. It's working now.  It wouldn't take my third link, but this is good.
