I've spent last week relistening to the whole Camel's discography (including a live record) in chronological order. Apart of the 80% of The single factor, there's not an album that I don't like. I can See your House from Here has the weakest song ever released by Camel (Remote Romance) but has also Ice. Rajaz is a masterpiece but Stationary Traveller is one of the best albums of the bloody 80s.
I was hoping to be in UK for Salisbury but my boss has moved the monthly meeting to last week

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Breathless. Excellent songwriting (music-wise) and production. I don't get much buzz from their classic period for some reason. Those compositions and their melodies feel rather lackluster to me.

How does Mirage get close with simple composition ides such as Fantasy and Freefall? Moondmadness, Raindances and the debut crap on it
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I choose Snow Goose because it's instrumental. But truthfully, I could listen to Mirage, Snow Goose and Moonmadness on an endless loop for the rest of my life and not get tired of it.

And throw Elke in that loop as well. Beautiful beyond words. To be a virtuoso and restrain it that much...it's their Moonlight Sonata.

Now THERE'S an eloquently put summation of the matter. Easily their three best albums, and not necessarily in that order, either.

Surprising to see any of the albums after the first four getting a vote as the best. I went with Snow Goose.
