I saw that ^___^

Space Dandy does look too comedy based for me but I thought that about Samurai Champloo at first but I ended up really liking it.

I don't know what you have and haven't watched and I'm still sorting through the "essentials" of anime right now, but the above-mentioned Mushishi (fantasy) is great and totally-not-sci-fi. Monster (mystery/crime thriller) is great too. Marawu Penguindrum (other) is another one starting with an "M" that is very good (and weird) as well. =

There's a list of everything I have seen so far, and a few more I plan to check out. Lately I haven't spent much time watching anime, but mainly just reading manga. I do enjoy other fantasy variations, but sci-fi gets on my nerves sometimes (which is odd because I am a math geek). I also like sports-related, romance, and some action/adventure. Really though, I could enjoy anything that's got a good, solid storyline.

I've been reading a few manga lately, as well. Vinland Saga and Goodnight Punpun currently.

Monster is really good if you want a great traditional overarching story. Mushishi is very episodic and Penguindrum does have an overarching story, but it approaches the story in a non-traditional way.

it was a good diversion while we wait for second series. pretty typical in format; kind of like how the stories are spread across 2-3 episodes in the series, but in one hit. all the touchstones of mushi-shi were there: simplicity, mystic, and an air of melancholy. i'd say it is worth watching.

I think Malazan Book of the Fallen would work very good in Anime actually, Apsalar.

I finally finished Non Non Biyori last night and it's probably my favorite slice of life anime so far, very relaxing with beautiful art and sound and great characters.

Haven't finished watching the first series of Mushishi yet. It's nice and wonderfully animated but I can't watch more than 1 or 2 episodes at a time, doesn't really grab my attention that well.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I finally finished Cowboy Bebop and really enjoyed it. Not my favorite of all time, but i still really liked it. My favorite episodes that spring into mind are Jupiter Jazz, Real Folk Blues, Wild Horses, and and Waltz for Venus.

I did watch a little bit of Dogs and Scissors and thought that was just weird.
Although I did laugh when the dog dressed up like Sherlock Holmes. LOL

Finished Chaos Head today before I start watching Steins Gate or Death Note (haven't decided yet), but definitely wasn't one of the best animes I've seen.  It starts off interesting with mystery and an intriguing main character, but once things to started to be revealed, it lost my interest as it seems to shift genres from mystery/thriller to fantasy.

I'd start with Steins because it's so unique and well done for the whole time plot.

if it was executed well it would be epic! would love to see how Kruppe (probably my favourite character these days) would be portrayed.

The soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop is definitely one of its best features.

I was discussing with a classmate once, and she said that Les Claypool collaborated with the producer of Cowboy Bebop on several other anime and provided music for them. I've researched it a little bit, but couldn't find anything to back it up. Anyone else know anything about this?

Have you accepted my friend request, metalmarsh?

Also, I never heard of les claypool working in CowBe. The whole soundtrack have been written and performed by The Seatbelts. Am I wrong?
