In the USA and Canada (and sometimes in Britain) the season is regarded as beginning at the solstice and ending on the following equinox[9][10] – in the Northern Hemisphere, depending on the year, this corresponds to the period between 21 or 22 December and 19, 20 or 21 March.

Winter: when it gets all snowy and cold.

It makes more sense than an arbitrary date.

That depends on the context.

I saw the first hobbit and it wasn't entirely terrible(As we say on PA: Collectors/fans only) but pretty unexciting overall

The second broadcast of AWTM will be tonight, now at 9:30 Central, which I think will make it more convenient for most people. Tonight's playlist includes Yes, Wild Flag, and more, so stop by if you're interested. And if you can't make it but are still interested, you can find a playlist for each week on my account, right after the show is done.

I have no real desire to see it, I've heard lots of the changes from the book are out of place at best.

Most US students have another week of school, so that wouldn't work for them.

Well if your broadcast starts at 9:30 central, then that means it starts at 10:30 eastern. So take into consideration getting up early for tomorrow, not everyone likes 4/5 hours of sleep.
