Discipline by a huge margin. Rogue is one of the best over 20 minute epics I've ever heard. And the rest of the album is stellar too.

Lots missing though= Airbag, Anubis, Deeexpus, Filkins, Frequency Drift, Gandalf'sFist, Hostsonaten, Inner Road, Introitus, Legend, Sanhedrin, and the Windmill. But my top album is Colin Mold- A girl on the Castle Steps. Here on the list i voted LCdZ.

Yes To Shatter All Accord is definitely one of the best albums from this decade so far. |

It's so hard to choose only one from this great prog year.
I Am between Steven Wilson, Discipline, Phideaux, La Coscienza di Zeno, Opeth.... Very tough! |

1. Steven Wilson
2. Phideaux 3. Steve Hackett 4. White Willow There probably are better albums on this list that I have here but I haven't heard them all. Why do time and funds always have to be so limited? |

I should try that Discipline album. I'm not a big fan of symphonic prog really, but a friend gave me Staircase maybe a year and a half ago and I didn't think it was bad at all.
I haven't listened to it in a little bit but Canto IV was always my favorite. |

Based on posts I've seen you make about bands in the past, I think you'll really like To Shatter All Accord. It isn't as needlessly dense as a lot of symphonic albums are, and it has a very fresh approach that blends the strong elements of both the past and present. It rocks out really nicely, and definitely has no problem bringing some new, experimental elements to the table that would throw a wrench into a run-of-the-mill retro-prog group's equation. If anyone asks me to name an album that at once has vintage and modern appeal, this is the first that comes to mind. Plus, it's awesome how different it is from Unfolded Like Staircase. Even though that is one of my top 5 albums ever, it's really refreshing to know this group made another masterpiece album that doesn't just repeat what they've done in the past. I really respect that about them. Edited by Neo-Romantic - November 02 2013 at 17:38 |

Actually Circuitry, When the Walls are Down and When She Dreams She Dreams in Color are all old songs, some of them are even older than Unfolded Like Staircase. Buy the live dvd, all these songs are there, When She Dreams She Dreams in Color is in a shorter version though. Here's a video with Discipline talking about To Shatter All Accord, also take notice that in the video Matthew Parmenter says that Rogue is a song that they wanted to record for a long time. The ones I know doesn't really do much for me. I prefer Sky Architect - A Dying Man's Hymn over everything here.
