Recently, Rocking.gr published a list as "The Absolute Guide To Progressive Metal"here
http://www.rocking.gr/articles/en/The-Absolute-Guide-To-Progressive-Metal/17150/

Although people might argue about this or that, I am more interested in any views of people having listened to the least "known" albums off the list - what would you recommend?

Please exclude the likes of DT, Fates Warning, PoS, Sieges Even, Queensryche, Shadow Gallery, Threshold etc. and let's see what other gems we are missing.

Albums I have not heard or bands I don't know (quite a few!):
9. Jester's March - Beyond (not on PA)
10. Last Crack - Burning Time (not on PA)
22. Manitou - Entrance
23. Mayfair - Die Flucht
26. Depressive Age - Electric Scum (not on PA)
31. Alchemist - Spiritech
40. Trivial Act - Mindscape
51. Aghora - Aghora
73. Disillusion - Back To Times Of Splendor
81. Subterranean Masquerade - Suspended Animation Dreams
83. Giant Squid - Metridium Fields
84. Twisted Into Form - Then Comes Affliction To Awaken The Dreamer
87. Grayceon - Grayceon
93. Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape
94. The Shadow Theory - Behind The Black Veil
108. Burst - Lazarus Bird

Last Crack! Wow, forgot all about them. That was a good album. Haven't heard it in ages, but I remember it being some kinda psychedelic metal. Maybe not 'prog metal' but again I haven't heard it for quite some time now.

Man, I really want to criticize this list because it's missing a couple of clearly obvious choices in favor of picking really weak albums from giants(No Mars Volta, but Queensryche's Promised Land is on this list? What were you thinking?).

Anyway, I didn't listen to that specific Alchemist album, but Organasm is a good listen. Imagine a much more progressive version of Mastodon.

Definitely listen to Burst - Lazarus Bird if you're a fan of Baroness, High on Fire, Mastodon, Converge etc. It's a phenomenal album.

Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape is a great traditional prog metal album with catchy melodies and great riffs. It also features Tommy Karevik who's now the singer for Kamelot.

The Aghora album is a jazz fusion metal offshoot of Cynic. It features female vocals as well as a lot of Indian influence both musically and lyrically. I like that one quite a bit, highly recommend it.
