Topic: FLOYD’s Live 8 Playlist? Posted: June 13 2005 at 06:43 |
Gotta figure (due to time constraints) that the boys from Cambridge will only play a 3-4 song set for the Live 8 concert.
I'd wish for:
1) Shine On
2) Poles Apart
3) Fearless
4) Echoes
But somehow I'm thinking we are going to see a 'most-popular' set consisting of:
1) Money (somewhat appropriate due to the concert's target audience)
2) Wish You Were Here
3) Another Brick 2
4) Comfortably Numb
With maybe 'Time', 'Hey You' or 'Run Like Hell' thrown in for good measure.
What are your requests?

I'm *hoping* that Waters' presence is conditional on the best stuff
being played. The could've gotten together to do the most popular
without him.

Got a feeling that Mr Waters might insist on "Tide Is Turning"
1.Money 2.Another Brick 3.Comfortably Numb 4.The Tide Is Turning.

They'll probably choose the crappy pop songs out of everything Floyd has done...

There will only be lifesize cardboard cut-outs and the actual music will be performed by Porcupine Tree.

I'm hoping for Dogs too... but highly doubt they'll play it. Personally I would be just happy seeing Comfortably Numb done again with Roger doing the verses and Dave the chorus... just like old times... and maybe Roger will remember what its like playing with a real guitarist...

False hope:
- One Of These Days
- Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
- Astronomy Domine
- Shine On You Crazy Diamond
- Cirrus Minor
- Echoes
But yeah, they'll play the hits instead.

I read the news today in netscape.com that PinK Floyd with Waters is going to play in Live 8. I couldn`t believe it. I don`t know if they are going to have backing musicians too.
I think that they are going to play: Money and Comfortably Numb.
But it could be possible that they are going to play an "acoustic set", with Waters and Gilmour on acoustic guitars, Wright on piano and Mason on bongos. The songs: Wish You Were Here, Seamus (with Syd Barrett`s or Nick Mason`s dogs "singing" backing barks) and San Tropez. In "Live Aid", Bod Dylan played a very informal "Acoustic Jam" with Keith Richards and Ron Wood. In this kind of concerts, anything musically disappointing can happen.
But it is good that they can forget their problems from the past to play together for charity reasons.

I would love just to see them perform Shine On in its entirety: that is, including Dick Perry's sax solo, and Rick Wright's keyboard bit at the end. Maybe they could do Astronomy Domine in between parts 5 and 6.
However, I don't think that they will end up doing this. Another Brick pt2 is almost garranteed, but if they do pt1 and Happiest Days too, I would be happy. If they add an organ solo like in the version from Is There Anybody Out There? I would be very happy!
Money is another I would bet money on .
Sorry.
Comfortably Numb is one of my favorites anyhow, so if they play this one, I would be pleased.

With time constraints to consider, I'm betting on:
1) Money
2) Another Brick In The Wall (pt. 2 only)
3) Comfortably Numb
A few mild surprises would be:
Wish You Were Here
Not Now John
Eclipse
Mother
A few big surprises would be:
Bike
Candy And A Currant Bun
Goodbye Cruel World
...regardless, I'll be sure to have the DVR set.
