Hey guys,

This is a demo of my track Polychromasia for my school assignment. I would really appreciate it if constructive feedback is given (for my school assignment), like which parts of the track are turn ons/offs, what I can do to improve it. I know there are several major timing issues but the idea of the track is there. Influences for it are mainly Radiohead's Paranoid Android and Pink Floyd.

(Not sure whether you can categorize my track under Prog Rock)
Cheers!

Hey man.

I think a fair assessment would be to re-work the beginning, which is the first 55seconds. I'm not sure what kind of Base sound your using, but it just doesn't flow very well. It sounds choppy like its some morse code tapping or something. It has no feeling. I'm sure you can understand my criticism. On the other hand, the last part of the song when you transition to the acoustic guitar sounds great! It's a clever riff and I think you can really build something around that as your base. I'd focus more on that part and complement it with solid bass and light drumming.
Lastly, your transitions from one flow direction to the other definitely need some work. There is no cohesion, but like i said I think you should focus on that acoustic guitar number and build around it.

Anyway. Not bad. And thank you for sharing. Hope I could be of some help.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my demo and give feedback on it. For the first part, it is actually picking notes while palm muting, I guess i had too much compression on it, therefore could only hear the transient peaks (which is when i pick it). I will take my time and try to build something around the last acoustic part of the track, but for now I would have to make do with the original idea posted as I need to present three different segments in a song (Different tempo, time change etc etc). Yeah I strongly agree with you on the cohesion part, every time I listen to it, I just find that it sounds so... scattered.

Thank you for your feedback, it has sure been of some help for me.

Good day!

^ good luck dude. Boil a pot of coffee and nail it! I think you'll do great. Like I said, the acoustic guitar 55sec in sounds pretty good. Anyway, at least you got one part of 3 done. :)
