I was away all last week in a boring as hell teachers conference.  Gah.

So glad to be home, although I'm looking forward to the next school year.  I get to teach cinema studies.  Cool

I actually do plan on showing Spanglish.

I have to cover things like film history, censorship, technology, etc.  In my entire teaching career, this is the first time I've ever had elective courses.

I also get to teach journalism and work on the school newspaper.

Elective courses can be good or bad.  Being elective the odds are probably better of getting students who are actually interested in the subject matter at hand since they elected to take the course.  On the other hand, you will get the students who took the course expecting "underwater basket weaving" and not put forth any effort in the course.

I never understood how "underwater basket weaving" was associated with an easy course.  It doesn't sound like weaving baskets while under water is very easy to me.

on my to-listen-list, after Neu! 2, some Grindcore Karaoke demo, another Laszlo Hortobagyi album, the new Succubus Station, the latest Krallice release, and before 'Percussion Ensemble'(as recommended by MWH), an album by my favorite Dutch folk singer and the only album by Gannets.

That sounded kind of like an insult.  "You should check out next life" = "I wish you were dead". Wink
