Fun race today at Phoenix and Carl Edwards snaps a 70 race winless streak, beating out Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin.  NASCAR needs more tracks like this because the racing is always awesome in Phoenix, no matter what car is being run, unlike all the new 1.5 mile cookie cutters.

F1 Barcelona testing is over, what do you make of the Red Bulls being over 2 seconds off the pace of the fastest?
The weather was far from ideal so it's early for rushing to conclusions but it was the same for everybody.
It looks like Mercedes have done their homework.

Unofficial aggregate times from second Barcelona test:
1. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes, 1:20.130, 251 laps
2. Fernando Alonso, Ferrari, 1:20.494, 222 laps
3. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes, 1:20.588, 230 laps
4. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 1:21.266, 206 laps
5. Jenson Button, McLaren, 1:21.444, 194 laps
6. Nico Hulkenberg, Sauber, 1:21.541, 197 laps
7. Adrian Sutil, Force India, 1:21.627, 171 laps
8. Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus, 1:21.658, 50 laps
9. Paul di Resta, Force India, 1:21.664, 169 laps
10. Pastor Maldonado, Williams, 1:22.305, 151 laps
11. Valtteri Bottas, Williams, 1:22.468, 147 laps
12. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 1:22.514, 165 laps
13. Esteban Gutierrez, Sauber, 1:22.553, 191 laps
14. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 1:22.658, 149 laps
15. Sergio Perez, McLaren, 1:22.694, 201 laps
16. Romain Grosjean, Lotus, 1:22.716, 186 laps
17. Charles Pic, Caterham, 1:23.115, 199 laps
18. Jules Bianchi, Marussia, 1:23.167, 136 laps
19. Jean-Eric Vergne, Toro Rosso, 1:23.223, 173 laps
20. Davide Valsecchi, Lotus, 1:23.448, 16 laps
21. Daniel Ricciardo, Toro Rosso, 1:23.628, 152 laps

Red Bul weren't going for times. The teams seemed to have had a lot of trouble with the tyres degrading extremely quickly, making it difficult to tell where everybody is. All I'll say is that it seems fairly close between Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus and Mercedes with Sauber, Williams, Force India and Torro Rosso equally close and not that far off the main group. Marussia have definitely made some gains over last year thouhg they'll still need some good luck to score points. Caterham seem to be the only team to have obvious problems, their car is routeenly the most evil handling thing out there.

Do they race at Nazareth? Probably the craziest oval I know of.

I've just seen that Kubica has anounced his plans for the year, he'll be competing on 7 rounds of the WRC in a Citreon DS3 RRCin the WRC2 class, as well as selected outings in the European Rally Championship (almost certainly going to include his home event). First event will be the Rally Islas Canaries later this month.

No, that track shut down in 2004, although the Busch series and truck series used to race there.  Unfortunate, really, because that track provided for some good racing.

Damn, I didnt know that. I remember the last IndyCar race their with Hornish vs Castroneves for the win. An oval with elevation change, absolutely crazy, but such fun to watch.

Quite a few good/classic tracks have left us. The 1.5 mile cookie cutter has become the in thing sadly.

Honestly now that the 500 has passed any interest of mine has died lol ready for F1 Big smile

Interesting rumour thats been gathering pace since late last year is that Honda are on their way back to F1, possibly next year but most likely in 2015  with McLaren. Autosport are even repoting that according to Honda sources the board signed off on the development of a V6 turbo engine months ago. I really hope this is true.

Its time. Aussie GP this weekend and here are the practice times. McLaren are not looking good and Button has said points is all they can hope for this weekend. I know they werent expecting to be winning races from the word go but this is definitely worse than was expected, same goes for Williams who were talking about giving the big teams a hard time and are surprised they're off the pace.

Sebring 12 Hours tomorrow as well. It's the final year of the ALMS before it merges with Grand-Am next year so the last time LMP1 machinery will race there.

Indeed the low performance of McLaren is the biggest surprise, while Mercedes seem to have really improved, it's like Lewis Hamilton had a crystal ball Smile (his 7th place is misleading because he went off track trying to do his fast lap).
And Williams are indeed a big disappointment.
It's only early days though, gonna be interesting!

My Money's on Raikkonen providing the biggest challenge, apparently he put in a very strong 14 lap run during P2 which suggests they've got a good race car to challenge with.

^ I was quite surprised that it was essentially the same team as well. Happily surprised mind you.

Yes, I liked them. Really see why people didn't...I assume it's because on internet forums/chats we have to be "alternative" but they were quite fine. Glad they are back.

Wow I've really gotten bad. Used to not miss anything, now didn't even know Sebring was on.
Well it'll give me something to occupy my day until drinking happens tonight!
