The artwork of Mike Oldfield's Five Miles Out was inspired by an episode Mike had while piloting a Piper Navajo aircraft on August 1980 over the Pyrenees mountains in Spain and got caught in a thunderstorm, in his own words:

"We were tossed about like a pancake and there was ice collecting on the propellers and rain on the windscreen and everybody was going aaargh!"

Fripp wrote the Windows Vista Beta logon chime

Eno wrote the original Microsoft Sound

Mike Oldfield's Amarok has a hidden message in morse code that when translated say "F**K OFF R.B."

A mistake is always forgivable, rarely excusable and always unacceptable. -Robert Fripp

Not too obscure, but certainly unknown by many.

Nick Mason, drummer of Pink Floyd, produced Gong's "Shamal" and produced Steve Hillage's "Green".

That I have never heard before... he doesn't mention it in his biography :S Do you know when this was? Either way, it would have sounded quite funny with Jon's vocals over those crushing, dark riffs. Then again, I guess Ozzy didn't have the heaviest voice either ^^

He also produced an album by The Damned after they couldn't get a reclusive Syd Barrett to do it.

Triumvirat invited Mick Jagger to take part in the recording of their album A La Carte.
                  Jagger never showed.
