Truth ... I did not realize. Still, I think it is still far below what it should, for me it's the best album of the Focus. For an album that takes a hit as "Sylvia", the spectacular "Answers, Questions, Questions, Answers" and "Anonymous II", and a splendid performance of Akkerman at his best, certainly is very underrated.

You can help its rating by submitting a review and rating yourself, if you haven't already done so.  The rankings are nothing more and nothing less than the sum total of what people like you have contributed to the site.

Please don't quote yourself after you've made your post. It's really redundant.

Yeah and it's a great idea to have it there especially for people just getting into Prog. When i first got into it i used lots of top ten lists and best of lists just so i'd know where to start. Besides you can do best of lists on this site in so many different ways it's amazing. Best Zeuhl albums or best Zeuhl albums from 1973 etc. etc.

As a newbie, one can help but could also have the adverse effect unfortunately thus the band one loves and so much wish the best, due to your/newbie review putting their name out there  it might might actually become a target for others, nothing is fair, fortunately PA has collabs do make a difference in terms of levellling and making it fair, although they too are human and might miss certain things. . Disapprove

I think that there should be a lowest rated albums list. Seriously.
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

I agree - it should be based on albums with the most 1-star ratings.

Why highlight mediocrity? Give an opinion on soemthing and then let others decide - can you imagine being responsible for having the album with the worst rating?

Can someone please give me more insight into the calculation of the top 100?

For example: the album 'UZED' by 'Univers Zero' has a QWR of 4.255, 163 people have rated this album. This album does not appear in the top 100 list.  'A LITTLE MAN AND A HOUSE AND THE WHOLE WORLD WINDOW', from the band 'Cardiacs', on the other hand, has a QWR of 4.2176 (127 ratings) and possesses the 73'th place in the top 100 list. How is this possible??

Thanks Smile

Confused

UZED has a QWR of 4.1847 for 163 ratings and resides at #102 in the "Top 100"
"A Little man...ect" has a QWR of 4.2177 and resides at #73

I see nothing wrong here.
What?

Hmm, this is strange. Filter by country and choose 'Belgium'. The rating 'UZED' gets is different here. Why is this?

I'm new to this site btw Wink

The QWR is calculated on the "population" - when you limit the population to a selection of the whole database (such as filtering by country or subgenre) then the QWR is calculated on the reduced population. Therefore by filtering on "Belgium" the QWR is for all belgian artists (ie 4.255) - if you filtered on RIO/Avant Prog then the QWR is 4.2674 for UZED and 4.3249 for The Cardiacs album

When can we expect to see the Top 100 of 2013 page?  I like to check out albums I've missed.

Rating abuse and manipulation only really gets going around here once we put a link to the chart on the fornt page menu, so hopefully not until Jan 2014.

Smart.  You guys have figured this whole thing out, eh?  I didn't realize there are so many douchebags out there that have nothing better to do than to mess with ratings.
